Man this midfield is killing us.

We have been giving them too much space in and around our box to pick a pass/cross. Their goal was typical.

What I would say is why wasn’t the player stood in front of Ali called for offside for interfering with play??

I thought that the best half we have seen from Wirtz so far.. looked much better.

They were always going to score we have zero control of the midfield. Extremely fortunate first goal - lovely second…. They look a tidy side / thank the good lord no Alvarez tonight

            Konate's killing me.

First he plays the Atleti player onside with his lack of concentration, and then has the shot go through his legs as he does anything but make it more difficult for Llorente to get his goal.

That goal had been coming, though.
Something about us being 2-0 up seems to lead to a "switching off" mentally and just suddenly gifting the opposition all manner of possession and opportunities.
And just general carelessness with the ball.

            Come on, lads!
            Wake up!

From behind the goal you can see Alisson can see everything - so would have been harsh to rule it out imo

If it weren’t for grav in midfield we’d be lacking anything in there. Not sure if it’s a shape thing or a personnel thing but we really do lack control in there. I think we’ve become too technical in a way. Need to just move the ball through the positions much quicker.

It’s going to be 2:2 before you know it unless we wake up and get on the ball

Something needs tweaking in there, for sure.

We do look dangerous whenever we're actually able to get it to the attacking players, but prior to that we just seem to lack any control in getting the ball from the back to the front of the field and I'm just not sure what it is.
Szobo who's been good in recent games feels like he's taken a step back in this game, and maybe Wirtz is a bit too high up to play that role. We need Grav deeper for protection of that back four - especially with people like Konate falling asleep like he did for that goal and the fullbacks going on attacking runs that leave us open.

Macca's absence certainly is ringing through.

And it seems like we've come out from the break half-asleep again.

Not a great start to the second half with Atletico having the lion's share of the ball so far.

These European refs sure do like the Spanish big three.
