He and his wife had their first baby a couple of weeks ago, so I imagine that's taken a lot of training time away from him, as well

    (...not to mention, sleep.
Any new parents know how it goes))

I don't want us to get into a tug-of-war with other suitor clubs when he becomes a free agent in the summer.
The problem is that if Guehi waits till the summer window rather than January, one way or another he and his agent will get a lot more dough, especially if the likes of a certain bunch of Spanish scumbags continue with their usual m.o.

I hope it doesn't transpire this way, but I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up joining one of the top two Spanish gits, or one of the two blue financially doped PL clubs.

      • Was Wirtz more left when Gakpo went off?

          • At least Wirtz made a couple of chances tonight but still, his finish/ final ball and even general passing was terrible at times.

I'm betting on him wanting more to stay in England than move to Spain or a league abroad.
And if he's staying in England which club would offer him a better opportunity for (actually) winning titles in all our current respective states than us?

But that's another reason why I'd prefer we prioritize it for January than risk it for the summer (...again).

I'm still not ready to go sour on him like everyone else is.

Everybody keeps forgetting that players coming into the Premier League from other leagues typically take 6-8 months of proper playing time to fully bed in.

He's still at the early stages of his bedding in period, and coming from the Bundesliga, it's no surprise that it's taking him time to get acclimatized to the pace and ruggedness of the Premier League.

(by comparison, Diaz has settled in much quicker going the other way because the Bundesliga is simply not at the same level in terms of how much harder it is to adapt to relative to the Premier league)..

He also needs time getting on the same wavelength as his new teammates.
More than a few times he kept running into the paths of teammates or misreading intended passes or runs.

                  • If we’re bringing Diaz into it, he was absolutely brilliant when he came to us from the Portuguese league.

I’m only commenting on what I actually see and so far I don’t see a lot.

It’s accentuated by the fact we have weakened our midfield to accommodate him

                      Here are some positives

Its early days. We're 5 wins from 5.

3 more points than last year after 4 games in the PL.
Team.. Then.. Now . (Rel benefit to us)
                      Cituae ... 12 .... 6 .......... (+9)
                      Arse ...... 10 ..... 9.......... (+4)
                      Toon ..... 10 ..... 5 ......... (+8)
                      LFC ......... 9 .... 12

2 more points from our game v Arsenal at Anfield than last year
2 more points from our game v Newcastle at St James than last year
We look like we're still in preseason and priming for the 2nd half of the season with a load of new faces settling & Isak just made his debut.

And in addition, it's still the case that
                      21 + 7 = 28

Slot is going to have to start dropping him if he doesn't start producing soon, because shoe horning him into the side is weakening the midfield. We're getting played through too easily.

                              • Didn’t see the game as I was feeling crap so just caught up with the highlights on TNT.

                                Great win in the end.

Did they (VAR) review the first Athletico goal as one of the players looked offside to me and was stood right in front of Allison?
