Absolutely no one hates Wirtz Kev.Originally posted by Kev0909 View PostDon't really get the hate?
Ratings have Wirtz as 8 along with salah and VVD top players according to the ratings......
don't be shitcunt fans like UTD not going to help if supporters turn on the lad
However as a fan who’s first game at Anfield had Tommy Lawrence in goal and Stevie Heighway on the wing, I’ve seen a few players come and go.
And for a record fee having been paid for a player we are told is an absolute footballing genius, I expect him to look better than Harvey Elliott and at times he has looked like a downgrade not an upgrade.
As I have also repeatedly said, though I am not saying he will never come good he certainly hasn’t been good yet and we have weakened the midfield to fit him in.
Last night was better, in that he made a couple of chances but he also gave the ball away with an easy pass available to him, far too often for my liking.
At £100m you are looking for a player to be pretty feckin good pretty much from day one.. he needs to be close to the finished article not a work in progress."I am the Normal One."

Oh go on then...Originally posted by ianlfc View PostHow much would a prime John Barnes be worth ?
The geezer was ridiculous.. Pure class on every level. As a Red - put headphones on and get into the sheer brilliance of John Barnes.. This is a superb video and audio homage to one of the best players ever to pull on the famous shirt..

Great Video. Cheers Steveo!
Just think how good he would with today's conditioning! Add another yard of pace to his game, lighter ball, boots, better pitches, etc... Now that would be frightening!
And as Miller says would be a £200m player, easily, and the best winger on the planet. And I don't think it is even debatable!Something, Something, Something, Dark Side

Yep, imagine him in an attacking midfield role.. he would have been great with our previous front 3.. ie Mane Firmino and Salah as well. we never had the players in his era.. if you look at the line up we had for the title challenge.. the back line was terrible.Originally posted by miller0863 View PostGerrard would be off the scale entirely
never mind what Nineteenx said.. Gerrard was outstanding in the DM role that season..Cleaning up the Scots since the 13th century

he has a point but it's not the olden daysOriginally posted by Steveo View PostIs the right and reasoned answer.
Look at utd.... antony sancho...... list goes on, Doubt he'll be that bad...
he's a young lad in a new league, takes time not his fault we spent that money on him is it?? It's also not like he's come into a settled team..... there's been a lot of changes
Big price, big pressure, new league new surroundings... he'll be just fine bit early to start being negative.Last edited by Kev0909; 19 September 2025, 04:22 PM.

Well yes we all hope and expect that - nobody saying he wont live up to his billing .. just an observation that he hasn't as yet and while we wait the midfield looks stretched. We have somehow made 4 wins out of 4.. Could easily have been 4 points from 4 games.. then I would wager that many of those leaping in to defend his honour ...would be up in arms and painting him as a waste of dosh..

It's not like most of the team have played well and he's the stand out one either.....Originally posted by Steveo View PostWell yes we all hope and expect that - nobody saying he wont live up to his billing .. just an observation that he hasn't as yet and while we wait the midfield looks stretched. Let's be honest, we've not been great all over.
