  • Liverpool: Arne Slot admits his side have 'no answer' to opponents using long balls and low blocks following Brentford defeat

Liverpool boss Arne Slot has admitted his team have "no answer" to opponents using long balls following the 3-2 loss to Brentford; Brentford played 62 long balls on the evening, their most of the season; the Reds have now lost four consecutive games in the league and sit in sixth place

    Actually fuck off

    I miss Klopp

tell everyone slot, tell everyone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    What the fucking fuck

Pretty sure he was going on about long-balls before this game too, if brentford needed any tips, they sure did get them.

Am I overthinking this or this shit from Slot in the press is crazy and in a normal job would be warnings?? I know it's hard because of the context but think about it.... I dunno maybe a job in the FBI or police force

    • If he’s admitted his team has no answer then he is admitting defeat.

Bye then, we are Liverpool, we do not admit defeat, we never give up. You Sir, are not the man for us …

        • Hes been found out.
Last season we had no challengers, just arsenal and slots tactics only mattered to an extent, as the team knew each other inside out.

Some of his decisions are baffling.
Hes said he likes kerkez for example due to energy and runs, but hes made some key defensive mistakes, and considering our current issues surely robbo should be starting. Also its sad that those 'runs' are needed after spending 300m plus on attack.

          Anyone remember gakpo this match?
When he doesn't shoot (and tbf thats his best trait) hes so predictable, just like salah this season.

When we are trailing it seems slot just puts on any possible attackers and hopes for the best.

We are more manutd than manutd this season. Sad.
After the cup we have villa madrid and city.

          • It has begun.

That indy guy on twitter reporting that the upper management are concerned. (so they should be). They think KLOPP would return to the job.

How have gone from league champions to this in 3 months of football? Poor planning is my thinking.

I'm not sure "found out" is right.
Let's not forget he did a great job last season with squad management and making the right substitutes in certain games, also got a stellar season from Gravenberch. A lot of that seems to have been cast aside for some reason.
You don't get lucky winning a premier League title so whilst we're frustrated I think that's an unfair thing to say.

              • So far our matches this season have mirrored Slot's overall tenure.

Controlled to start with, then throw everything out and go a bit mental.

Even as a club we've been very measured in the transfer market over the last 10 years then suddenly they've gone mental and dropped half a billion pounds on new players.

Worst part is Henry won’t be doing this again , he’s dropped 400 million and it’s a shit show , I don’t know who said yesterday but even as fans we could of done a better job . If u gave us on this forum 400 million and we had to agree on 5 names we would do a better job of addressing the problems and fix the gaps in the squad ,

                    I still don't think we've recruited badly.

It's easy to say so in hindsight and after during a bad run of games.

Though saying that I did say at the end of last season we should have just given Crystal Palace £150m for Guehi, Wharton and Eze...

I already said, while he made a few good decisions, the squad—with helping hands from Arsenal and City—won themselves the title.
Everyone, including Slot himself, said he didn't need to do much.

This season is Slot tactics. I hope I'm wrong, but it feels like one of Klopp's bad seasons after winning/almost winning titles.
Except Klopp never got to spend anything like Slot did.

The transfer window, the way we lose, and the players 'fight' just reaks manutd, and i find that terrifying.

Yes, you do get lucky. Sure, it's not like the UCL, but I'd say we were unlucky to lose it to City at least once recently.
Also, Leicester won it with luck. It happens.

                      • My opinion... going forward this should be our starting eleven.
                        Bradley Konate VanDijk and Gomez.
Virgil really doesn't like playing with Kerkez.
He loves Joe Gomez, who btw had a great run of games at left back two or thee years ago. Give him another run now.
                        433. Midfield Grav Dom and Macca.
Front three Ekitike Wirtz and Salah, with Wirtz playing like a false nine the way Bobby used to facilitate Sadio and Mo.

Why not gomez at rb and Robertson at lb?

Both our full backs have looked lost.

                            • This is a problem we have to deal with for many years and its teams sitting deep and condensing the play down the centre off the pitch. from both sides of their own box and making it impossible for us to get into their box. We need to change tactics,. if that means sitting off and playing deeper ourselves and only going on the attack for the last half an hour so be it.. We need to change something its not working this way

                              • You are describing something all dominant sides have to face. If they are to be good enough to defend a title that is. Also teams aren't just sitting deep against us. NO more than you would ever expect for a oponents facing champions. In case people haven't noticed...they are almost as often ripping into us. Yes we are wide open to the counter but we are there for the taking from the middle of the park too. We are getting over run in the middle by so many teams.. Thats'a not about beating the low block that is about not being good enogh.
