  • Re it's the system not the players that are at fault.
Sadly, and this is harder fix, I take the reverse view. Slot system not the problem. Players are lightweight, lack pace and height and more than anything lack grit.
We need a Souness or Tommy Smith re-incarnation.
Some teams show how much they hate losing. We just shrug shoulders

This is what I think too.
I might be wrong but I think there's a laziness to this current side and an element of complacency with a lot of them (including Slot) after last seasons stroll.
I don't think they work hard enough for each other plus there's the predictability of our attack.
It's simply too easy to defend against side to side play that has little pace to it.

It's what will see him on the wrong side of the owners in very short order unless he recants.
Fascinating. Klopp arrived with a reputation for operating as he does. A man who ridiculed the Pogba fee, then paid those fees. A man expected to succeed on a low net spent, as that is his modus operandi.
Klopp arrived and net spending dropped instantly. You in your absolute bollocks have posted to the literal effect of, Klopp was promised more money, and JwH hoodwinked Klopp and used his love of LFC to underfund his capacity. Its absurd.

Had Klopp wanted to Pep/Jose spend at some club after Dortmund he had his pick. He was quite happy to work with our owners, over others. To be given the time to put his plan in place and deliver success.

Whilst doing that he managed LFC through covid, promoted the jabs, and missed his own mothers funeral.
He dealt with the media routinely, and tbh 1 day of Klopps life speaking with media and meeting people out and about would be exhausting for me.
Competitively he was up against Cituae & Pep, var, pgmol, fa, ffp, 115...

Klopp arrived the season before Pep, Pep had last season, a blip, over the same period of time they both had 2 blip seasons.

In Klopps latter years more so, and even in the CL success, the squad played their part. Our recent cup successes largely down to the expanded squad capacity. Taking, Div, Tsimi, etc

Klopp started out prioritising PL & Europe/CL. When the squad filled out he went for everything.
Ultimately in our big quadruple season playing every game available, we came up short v Cituae away a draw. And we lost to Real via Vinny jr in the final.
Even after all that, and having overseen developments at LFC, you slagged off the squad he left to Slot.

At the minute, we have a camp issue, and we've seen some of that before under Jurgen.

When I look at Jurgen, I see a man who ran out of steam and identified it within himself, he rebuilt the squad and handed it over to the next guy. That's a remarkable man. And based on the overall opinions hes expressed, and his actions/choices, I do not see much validity in your opinion/claim.

Interesting, it was they type of bs one spouts in the endless field of pr nonsense. Then has to admit to it, or double down.

You cant have fans saying they knew the game was done by the selection an hour before kick-off, and moan he didn't pick more seniors as they had expected 1 hour and 1 minute before kick off, and claim Slots bang on in making out he had no other choice because the squad is small.

Palace out moaning about fixture congestion now.. thats what Slot opted against. EFL, fuck it off and we move on. If the kids had won, great, another game for them.

I didn't detect any malaise when we won our first five matches in a row, we were lucky and we were shite but the players were fighting for each other, winning games against the odds, then Ekitike took his shirt off and Palace beat us. Again. Mentality rattled. Something has happened behind the scenes

We were shocking for most of those first five games I think. Should have lost atleast two and drawn two of them, late goals saved us but I definitely felt something wasn't right despite thinking it's a sign of a good side to be able to win that way. I just put it down to new players adapting.

I thought wed turned a corner with the first half hour against Everton but it was short lived obviously.

I did - we had no defensive capability and bar Ekitike very little threat - the mentality to fight was still there to a degree - don’t think any of the old guard will lose that - but why were we going behind so often. Those early games we were often as shyte as we have been in many of the games in the losing streak.

                    It’s really not rocket science

I agree and play Wirtz in the Firmino role with Ekitike and Salah ahead of him.

                      • To be fair many of us here said early doors we needed to revert to 433 and he needed to bring the new players into that gradually

It was mental to try and change wholesale like Slot has, pure mental

                          Not sure thats enough tbh.
Trent and salah worked great down one side, robbo was way more solid on the other.
Diaz, Nunez, jota when he played fought hard and were dogged up front. I remember many occasions, esp diaz was way back scrapping and defending.

As someone else said, we lost the fight in our attack but didnt buy any midfielders to make up for it.
I mean i get it, we needed attackers but not one of salah, eliteke, wirtz, isak or gakpo are 'fighting.'

We might pickup more points if he finally gets it right, but let's not forget that since we won the league last season, Slot has us in 13th position, picking up 17 points to arsenal and city's 29 and 26.
Right now we need teams to play nice like Frankfurt did, but that doesn't happen often in the league. Also in that game we were all over the place till we scored.

                          • I think the lack of fight is to do with a lack of duels because we’re not pressing as a unit the pressing has gone to shit

The 433 makes those forward players have to press and the rest of the team to coordinate their pressing with them

We need 3 in midfield pressing and Ekitike dropping in and he can and does do that at times

That 3 also protect the defence better and let our CBs play 1v1 and support our FBs runs forward

                              • It’s bad Arne. Really bad. 8th position. Below Man Utd and just 3pts above Everton. Both have lost less games!

I’m embarrassed for the club, the Defending Champions.
