And there's a lot in the team/squad that's good. That's the baffling part. Yes we've had injuries but there's enough decent players to play some football. Yet we don't by and large.

    Alisson
    VVD
Kerkez (has ability as seen before he joined. hasn't shown it for some reason)
Konate (poorer this season for some reason)
    Frimpong (good player)
Szobo (has carried the team often)
    Grav (classy player)
    Wirtz (has the ability)
    Ekitike (very good player)
Salah (could still do something if used around the box)
Gakpo (not a winger - could be used maybe differently. does have the habit of popping up in the box)

We could build the team around:
    Frimpong
    Szobo
    Grav
    Wirtz
    Ekitike
Try and keep Alisson as I don't fancy Mamardash much.
    Desperately need VVD replacement.

    • I bought up in the summer rebuild thread last august that it felt like Souness's mass clear out and it could end up following the same route. Got laughed at and told it was a daft comparison. In the reality of late january i think it safe to say it has been worse than souness. Slot thanks for the league but you need to go.

Difference there is Souness brought in a load of shite. Slot/Edwards/Hughes haven't.

We've been poor in some situations, mostly defensively and through the midfield during counter attacks. And we've struggled offensively to create enough clear chances against low blocks. Those would be valid criticisms. As I keep saying, our big players from last season aren't performing.

There are plenty of other things we've done well. Frimpong and Kerkez are starting to provide width and look threatening. Wirtz is just pure class and Ekitike is brilliant. Those two as a partnership are and will continue to be awesome.
As I said, we've been pish in all areas...

We have a talented squad, and despite what some will have you believe we've recruited some good players.

Slot has failed to get anywhere near enough out of them. You can count on one hand how many 'good' performances we've had this season.

I tend to be a glass half full kind of person, and hate the idea of calling out a manager and I genuinely hopes he can turn it around, but where do you draw the line? As a line does have to be drawn at some point.

Yea we're maybe splitting hairs a bit on the criticisms. I don't think we've been pish but I don't think our performances have been good enough for the most part. We have played some lovely football at times. And then conceded some horriffic goals. All within about 10 minutes of each other typically.

You can certainly blame Slot for some things. But the players should be criticised too. Salah has been pish all season. Konate has been pish. Macca has been pish. That's not all down to Slot.

I really like the players we have bought. I think they'll do very well. End of the season is the line for me. Evaluate then.

And it's a pretty big difference. The most important one in fact.

                      This is nails it.
I'd say this is where a lot of Liverpool fans are, there's just nothing to suggest he will pull is out of this and the longer this goes on the likely prospect of missing out on top four is a likely happening.
It's not as black and white as "Slot out". None of the level headed fans want this to happen and are not happy with the current predicament but the progress of LFC is the issue here, that's our concern and like Redmagic said yesterday you don't stick with something that's clearly toxic or not working for the sake of it.
Our points return since those first few games is unacceptable and there's something really off about so many players being "out of form".

The owners are in a bad spot here, I'd summise that if they saw Alonso as the answer to this he'd be there now after Saturday's debacle.
They hang on till the end with this truly shocking form and the top four is going to slip away and then they're tasked with attracting a top manager without the lure of CL football. I don't see anyone like Enrique or someone of that standing going to a team in the Europa.
The defining moments in our lives are never planned.

Indeed - every individual there -

                        Isak
                        Ekitike
                        Wirtz
                        Kerkez
                        Frimpong
                        Leoni

I'm happy with "in principle" (we have been unlucky not to really see Leoni or as much as we would like of Isak) and I'd expect most (all?) of them to be playing a part for the next 3-5 years.

Whilst the individual talent is good, the key bit going forward will be the balance. We have quality ingredients but the recipe isn't quite right.

If we can continue to buy quality players, but do so with better prioritisation, we should be fine.

Klopp joined us when we were in the Europa League.

Fans overact way too much. LFC is one of the biggest jobs in world football. Any manager would want to take it, CL or not.

We have the ingredients, i'm not overly keen on the recipe and I wish the Chef would stop dropping bits of dog shit in the soup!

That's a good point and you're right for the most part but I'd doubt Enrique would. I was just using him as an example as he'd be my choice if he were a possible appointment.

I'd agree with that. Souness sold quality such as Beardsley, McMahon, Houghton before their time instead of letting them train in some of the newer players. He also brought in sub-standard players. This time around we've sold too many and unfortunately we've lost Jota too. Had we kept Trent and Diaz we'd be probably looking at a different season I would guess. The players we've brought in are good but too much change. Wirtz has taken time to settle which isn't his fault. Isak has been injured pretty much all season now....Ekitike has been a bright spot.
