As a self declared autistic savant...

I guess we'll have to take your word again, and accept any Championship or PL striker saves Wirtz's goal comfortably

Would you say the same for Szoboslai's goal?

Don't be a clown. Surely if a League One keeper gets his fingers to it, a Championship / Prem keeper saves it?

Or are these kind of observations reserved for players you don't rate?

It's one thing to not rate / dislike a player, it's another when making provocative statements to fit whatever agenda you have against a player.

          • I do rate Wirtz I just don’t rate the formation change that’s affected every other player to accommodate him We didn’t need him We could have a vastly improved 433 with greater strength in depth and be sitting g top the the league right now

The desire to make him a designated playmaker and how it’s been being done has stifled many of the other players individual creativity and the teams we hardly create any chances

Were ridiculously easy to counter on, we let teams have it easy in their own half and transition to either a wide player down the side of our 2 or worse still at least 3 times most games to a player just outside the centre circle in our half straight through the middle of midfield, who’s then allowed to drive it forward with runners and no pressure on the ball and idiots blame our defenders for it

Too many ppl wildly celebrating a win that the margin of flattered us against a league one team

I find it and think any fan should find it more disrespectful to all our players here before the summer that have suffered as a result of the formation change and the way in which integrating him has been handled that anyone should hail him as if he’s a knight in shining armour here to save us

I must have escaped their attention we’ve gone dramatically backwards since his arrival and the needless changes

            • We’d just won the league playing a system we played for 10 years that made us one of the very elite clubs once more

We needed to improve on what we had and on our strength in depth and could have

If it ain’t broken don’t fix it

That might not mean anything to some of you, it very much applies to our fall from grace and what Souness did, even him selling Beardsley to the bitters and Slot selling Diaz to Bayern has similarities, and the continuation of that under Evans, under whom we had a designated playmaker in the same style in MacManaman and struggled in haves he was man marked as a result.

it’s stood the test of time and after what happened with Souness should be respected by every fan who respects club traditions and knows the game and understands how such changes that seem nothing to too many can drastically affect things

How is it provocative when he’s had similar efforts from similar positions in games in the Prem which were better placed further away from the keeper saved?

                • The Slot-related threads are going to make for the most fascinating if we manage to win the Champion's League this year.

I don't think we will - but given the format of the Tournament, our best football often being played when deemed to be underdogs, Anfield under the lights and Europe seemingly suited our play style a bit better, we absolutely have a chance.

                  • Let’s hope you get your wish - and IF we can replicate the away day in Milan and the second half v Arsenal…. We could easily do just that. We have the players….

If he makes the necessary changes it’s possible

At the moment that press and counter press isn’t good enough by a long distance

We don’t play quick enough or direct enough when it’s on to or create enough as a result

How he is trying to make Wirtz a designated playmaker having other hugely capable players standing like dummies to play wall passes for him is another reason we’re struggling to create when your capable of attacking and scoring from
Anywhere on the pitch you’re really in business and he’s taken us hugely backwards in that

Designated playmakers became a thing of the past because teams would man mark them or set great presses in the areas they liked to work so if he were successful in making us play everything through Wirtz as he seems to be trying to, while lessening the creativity from every other player, we could really struggle

If he pulled it off it would be brilliant and we could come back here and look and quote but he won’t achieve that without the necessary changes so that would make doing so pretty futile

Certainly a possibility Sid. A favourable draw on the Rd of 16 ( if we make it through of course) and there's no reason why we couldn't get to those evening kick offs when it's still light.
That's when the CL gets exciting I think.

                          • I predict most of us will again be calling for Slot's come 5pm.

The football continues to be horrific to watch.
