  • It’s actually very accurate Van Gaal at the filthy tried it and failed

I think that was the second time Van Gaal tried it at a big club and failed Bayern and Barca were in his list too

Ten Haag brought a few in and it failed

It’s happened lots of times across many leagues

At least they played it before getting the job so it was known to be their plan

Absolutely not based on reality or how the world works. It's so far off the mark it's actually quite scary. But somehow entertaining.
No offence or not generally being horrible, but he's clearly not the most normal of minds... not sure how to put it without coming across harsh

I generally don't mean it in a bad way, it's just how you come across

I have no doubts if I met him in person he'd probably talk a lot but a Genuine nice bloke, same with most people on here, I think stevo probably a bit of a grumpy arse sat in the corner, and you'd have to watch what you say because if you disagree the pints going over your head.

      • Say what you like it’s based on the reality of that system attempted to be played that way in this league

Only Guardiola did it successfully and that and him playing that way ended in 2020

Van Gaal failed Ten Haag failed and neither of them restricted their sides to short passing or a designated playmaker it was generally the lack of a press and counter press and too many players looking to be in space and not enough picking up

Really easy to counter on and score as seen in the 7-0 at Anfield

        • And unfortunately the 3-0 humbling by Forest at Anfield this season

Kev, Miller, Steveo, Ian and I are about the only three calling this exactly as it is

There are far too many listening to the troll who came here last season looking for this sort of thing and fkd off sharpish when it didn’t happen, was nowhere to be seen

He’s got those of genuine unsound mind slagging our players who won the title last season when it’s clear as day Slot’s different use of them from a system they played quite brilliantly for 2 years minimum and 8 years or more in some cases

If none of you can see how mental that is then you need to have a word with yourselves

              • I'm sure I'm not the first to feel this, but today's squad feels like Souness's squad to me. Old players coming to the end of their careers. Good players needlessly sold and new players either not of the standard or not working.
It's a bit disconcerting to say the least.

Have you watched any of our recent games? Genuinely? Our best players have been Wirtz, Kerkez, Ekitike and Frimpong.

Alisson, Jones, Slobo, VvD and Robbo have generally been good when played.

Grav, Macca, Mo, Gakpo and Konate have been poor. All part of the team that won the league last season. IMO that's where most of our issues are.

Bradley, Isak and Leoni out for the season with injuries.

The squad is good. There are definitely players that need replacing over the next couple of seasons. Same as it ever was.

It's nothing like the Souness squad.

It’s Souness in tearing up the winning blueprint and selling players who fitted it trying to needlessly create something in his own image instead that isn’t nearly as good

Jurgen sorted us out with a fantastic midfield 3 that’s having issues because Slot needlessly made it a four sacrifing one forward to do so and then insisted all the other players play through him and everything was played short

We’ll be back to 433 next season and Slot will be gone I’d probably go for De Zerbi if it were up to me as he has his players over achieve like Jurgen did.

It’s important we learn the lesson from last time a manager fucked us like this and get back to what works as quickly as possible

So we need a CB a ball playing No6 and two top class wide forwards in the summer and we can probably sell Wirtz to Bayern for what we paid for him as I don’t see where he fits in we never needed him in the first place

Are issues are in changing from how we played to win the league at a canter

Wirtz is constantly in the space Macca used to arrive into a 10 position in from the midfield 3

                        Grav’s been very good

We’re wasting players with all the short overpassing crap and trying to play everything through Wirtz and he’s in all of last seasons best midfield in the leagues space constantly

Slots changes and his use of Wirtz are the issue and he’ll be gone in the summer if not before

                        Hopefully we scrape top four

                        • Kerkez has run a lot and defended ok but his ball in and lack jf forward passing has been abysmal

Robbo’s instantly miles better with the ball when he comes on Jerkez needs to learn from Robbo

Frimpong is a great option to have for RFWD or RB not a top player in either the RFWD position needs a forward who will always be threatening to score and create not just looking to cross

Sane at LFWD too Isak thrive in a Newcastle side who set their press to win it in the centre of the park and transition from there to directly release either lightning quick and talented LFWD or RFWD ahead of him stretching the opposition and attacking thr box or putting balls in for Isak to come into

He’s not a fix in the box in an overcrowded penalty area he relies on the directness we had last season and under Jurgen, that’s his game and what made him great for Newcastle and Ekitije’s no different

Pretty much all our players are suited to playing how we played last season and under Jurgen I can’t wait for us to get back to that

Still no confirmation on whether Konate will play or not. Also very positive about having Salah back.

Number of saves made by their keeper? 🤫
