I think a couple of people have suggested the 4-3-1-2 over the course of the season, Nineteenx put it forward for Wirtz a few months back as well.Originally posted by Ravo19 View PostNever been on wirtz's back, have said "good player but might have overpaid",as a fan of mudfield 3 i have questioned fitting in a 10 but as wirtz has settled in i have suggested 4 3 1 2 or 4 3 3 with wirtz as a false 9.Your hobbies are rollerblading and you're also a bit of a rat-hound? Exactly. It's not personal against Slot. In most fields, you use evidence to make decisions. The evidence this season is that Slot can't get a group of good (some very good) players to play at the required level. In most games we've struggled to produce anything approaching league-winning performances. On the contrary, we've actually looked shambolic, disjointed, disorganised, lacking in confidence, planning, coaching. You name it we've had it this season.Originally posted by Ravo19 View Postwhy is it bizarre to want the best for lfc?
its nothing personal against slot but some of us dont think he's a good enough manager for liverpool, its as simple as that no abuse to the man himself.
Lfc comes first over managers & players.
Now, bearing in mind last season, a bit of leeway is called for and I think most fans would have no problem with Slot seeing out the season. We're not talking about jumping ship at this stage. However, Alonso becoming available is a huge opportunity. I think we'd be mad to continue with Slot for another season. He looks like he's out of his depth and the only conclusion I can come to is that he managed to steer the players last season to the title by not tinkering hugely with what went before. He also had Trent, Diaz and Jota to call on who were three top players who knew the system and were battle-hardened.From the moment I picked your book up until I laid it down, I convulsed with laughter. Someday I intend on reading it. Groucho Marx

Virgil sticking up for Slot.
https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spor...-arne-33351569Slot in particular has attracted fierce abuse from sections of the online fanbase, although Van Dijk has sought to qualify such criticism.
"Who gives him the disrespect? That's the question," he said. "Is the disrespect being given by people that we shouldn't value their disrespect?
"I can also think about players being disrespected, and who disrespects the players? Is that someone you value, is it a significant show of disrespect or someone you can just let slide and instead just focus on the task ahead to be successful as a Liverpool player?
"It's like us players as well - if you don't perform you get criticism and that's part and parcel of the game. We have to perform. That's what we didn't do on a consistent basis but we speak about that every three or four days unfortunately."
Of the impact of social media, Van Dijk added: "If you're going to read all that stuff, one week you could be the hero and the next week the villain.
"I spoke last week about how worse and more difficult it's getting every year. Every era has its own challenges and that part of outside the game will be a big challenge for the next generation, and it's already a challenge for this generation."
Assessing Liverpool's underwhelming Premier League title defence, Slot last week insisted he should only be properly judged at the end of the season with the Reds still in the FA Cup and Champions League.
And Van Dijk said: "That's normal as that's the board, the people making the decisions behind the scenes. We get judged every game because I remember a lot of things being said after Bournemouth and then a few days later other things being said and now there'll be other things.
"For us as players we have to perform, as the manager he is responsible for us performing. But he can't really do the work on the pitch - we (the players) are there. But we all know how football works.

And he’s produced his best performances playing as we did before Slot wrecked our season trying to make the world revolve around WirtzOriginally posted by miller0863 View PostWasn’t me who suggested selling Wirtz in January tho I have said what I thought from day one and he’s not been good enough.
Today was his best performance by a distance and far more what you would expect for such a heavy investment and to change tactics and build the team around.
If Slot hadn’t changed to what the ppl knocking him and Wirtz wanted we would t have won 3 in 4
We lost to Bournemouth by reverting to the 4231 after levelling 🤦*♂️ there’s the danger Slot will keep reverting to that refusing to accept his half arsed idea was entirely wrong"If Everton were playing at the bottom of my garden, i'd close the curtains”

Need to remember we’ve not changed our opinion of how Slot tried and failed to have us play or Wirtz’s performances in that
Slot’s changed to what it always should have been, for now at least"If Everton were playing at the bottom of my garden, i'd close the curtains”

Aye.
It's all Slot. Maybe we should play Arne at CB and he could clear a ball. Or play him up front and he could hit the target. Couldn't do any worse than VvD, Konate, Mo, Macca, Gakpo and others.
Thankfully Wirtz and Ekitike are superstars in the making and are bailing us out this season.

Oh dear Slot the egomaniac thinks he’s up there with Cryuff
“Good football more important than trophies@
We’ve been treated to brilliant entertaining football for 9 years before he started fucking with the program with his borefest overplaying no tempo, no intensity, no variation, no cut and thrust
What the fuck is he on the clown 🤡 his attempt to play the long since outdated Dutch way has been an absolute fucking disaster we’re only turning a bit of a corner because he let the players play as they play best fit 3 out of the last 4 games"If Everton were playing at the bottom of my garden, i'd close the curtains”

I feel really sorry for the fella. He isn't in any kind of control at all. He's the sacrificial lamb to be culled if and when their new concept seems to be in danger. He will take the blame. If he can keep us even marginally competitive - which he really must be able to do with the money spent - then he can stay... for now.
His job wasn't easy post summer and that big spend. But we're in the midst of an 'expectations management' exercise. The sweet spot ...as I always said is their goal and it doesn't involve winning trophies. They are a great by-product and a boon if and when they happen but not the goal. The goal is that revenue and the exponential rise in the value of the asset. That's - top 4... play some attractive football... sponsor the shyte outta the club... invite the cameras in...

Because they had to mask the loss of Jurgen. Use the funds held back to back the new project. the new system. A system they KNOW is weaker from a winning perspective.
Kids stuff.. and as you seem to like hanging around on a forum - what was it you said again... oh yes.. "by kids for kids" it shouldn't be a leap even for you

Although Slot’s football has been damaging the brand, punters want to see exciting football, attacking with purpose throughout and in the dying seconds sneaking last gasp wins
That will put a huge bite in our banal revenue and expansion if they allow it to continue
If he sticks with being more direct 3 ahead of Wirtz and playing with pace and intensity as he did 2 and a bit games across 4 recently he might be alright
Any of the Dutch total borefest walk fest and he’ll be back to losing ways what part of him thinks that’s entertaining to watch from his comments gaving seen what we’d been doing for 10 years is beyond anything"If Everton were playing at the bottom of my garden, i'd close the curtains”

That's really your explanation? They spent £400m because Klopp walked out? Maybe you should think that one through.Originally posted by Steveo View PostBecause they had to mask the loss of Jurgen.
They spent £400m with the expectation of winning trophies. I'm sure Slot and everyone else is aware of that.
