They spent £400m with the expectation of winning trophies. I'm sure Slot and everyone else is aware of that.

    • As mentioned the by-product of winning trophies is great but it isn’t their goal. Never was. I am sure they expected much more change of trophies after the £230 million spend. And this season isn’t run yet… We could still do just that. Not that it’s fair - as you and myself have done - to claim Slot has been backed with over £400 million.

But the huge relative spend this summer is to future proof the club against a fall outside the top 4… A fall to Rodgers level in the post Klopp years. It is not intended to go and retain the title. No way. No way you bank the Diaz cash and expose the left flank - no way you ignore the need for a 6 and a senior CB….

IF you listen to the actual framing from the round table PR bollox. This is about sustainability as it always was. And that sustainability is all about the ability to fleece the most successful club in the land. Rinse its fan base of all the cash. Sponsor everything to the hilt and bank as much revenue from TV as is humanly possible. These are the goals. Klopp provides that for them and inadvertently put us at the top table. The instant he did - the funds dried up. Bills had to be paid.. There was never any intention to go again. To go and defend either title.

      So pipe down shill

If Slot inherited a title winning team (your words) why would we need to spend £400m to avoid a fall to Rodgers level?

None of your ramblings make any sense whatsoever.

It's all very weird. Someone else mentioned that he talks Klopp up so he can talk the club down. That's about all I've seen from him.

He can't be a LFC fan.

They do... provided you are in possession of a brain. You'd also actually have to follow Liverpool FC beyond trying to dumb-down the forum.

The team Slot inherited was made up of Klopp's regulars and old guard.
                  Alisson
                  Virgil
                  Trent
                  Salah
                  Robbo
                  Gomez

                  His newer signings
                  Diaz
                  Gakpo
                  Nunez

                  Klopps' 2.0 - midfield exclusively
                  Macca
                  Grav
                  Szobozlai
                  Endo

                  and Klopp's young guns

                  Kelleher
                  Quansah
                  Clark
                  Morton
                  Doak

                  And here...

Total League Minutes Played,% of Total Minutes
                  Klopp Signings 37,512 - that's 99.7%
                  Slot Signings (Chiesa), 108. that's 0.3%

So - let's see how many of those players Klopp left behind - many of whom were instrumental in the title win were destined to remain beyond the summer...

                  • For people like 19 saying press, press, press go back and press like previoulsy - well Slot figured out last season he couldn't press that same 14-16 players all season long like Jurgen had to, so he eased it a little over an 8 month stretch until the league was clinched v Spurs. They were still fucked as was evident in LC final possibly as a result of the CL league phase exertions.
With salah and vvd aging, all the new players and all the injuries I feel he's had his hand forced to try a new system as the squad isn't any bigger and wirtz had to get up to speed. So we can't press at all times in all games as things stand. Those changes have affected the makeshift defences too. Add in whatever possible issue there is between Slot and Hughes over Diaz,Rio,Chiesa and this is where we are. Until we add the likes of a wharton into the midfield whilst also retaining Jones and coaxing Bacjetic there may be no return to the full on pressing game. However I could see us selling salah,Jones, possibly even gomez and endo to balance against the new defenders fee which would leave the squad numbers back down again.

                    • You actually end up doing more running and longer sprints by not picking up and pressing and counter pressing 😮*💨

                      Why can’t anyone get this?

Ok this season how many times did we lose possession not be in a counter pressing position and have 8 or 9 players sprinting all the way back towards our box

Which do you think is more tiring and puts more strain on thr bodg, picking up and doing short sprints to regain possession or join an attack or sprinting the length of the pitch

I really shouldn’t be having to explain this all the time it’s quite simple

Its only simple to you within your engrained way of thinking. I thought the stats showed we were covering less kms this season. I believe his high possession % is designed to lessen fatigue, it isnt the prettiest to watch and we have been caught badly on the break but just maybe we are showing signs of turning the corner. Once we get Leoni, jacquet, Bradley and Kerkez playing together things will hopefully tighten up at the back. We can rest virgil now and again, konate most likely gone by then. Still need at least 2 more mids into the bank of players if that effective pressing is to come back in all the time.

So just wait, if we were to win the CL great but if we dont but do finish 5th (or better) we'll maybe just have to accept that as a transition season. If we do neither then Slot is at the mercy of Hughes judgement.

                          • But we had most possession loads of the time pressing and countering pressing it

Counter pressing is only picking up a player while being place to join the attack if it opens up that way or to quickly win the ball back if we lose it

The only difference between that and now is we have had too many players looking to be in space wrong side of the ball and not enough picking up, they’re not running any further by being in a counter pressing g position but they are stopping easy counters and transitions

                            • With any luck we'll get most of our players back before the end of the season and get a glimpse of what our full team will look like going forward. Drop Salah, get Frimpong and Isak in there and see how we do.

There has been far too much disruption with injuries this season. Even the likes of Bradley won't be ready until mid-way through next season.

I can understand why we're struggling though. That's the difference. Many of our experienced players are either in poor form themselves or in permanent decline. Add in new players trying to settle and constant injuries and it's not a surprise to me. As I keep saying, if you can't see that stuff then you're watching the wrong sport. Which is most fans unfortunately.

I want to see this team play a number of games together before I go deciding that the manager is crap.

                                Alisson

                                Frimpong Konate VvD Kerkez

                                Grav

                                Slobo Jones

                                Wirtz

                                Ekittike Isak

How many times have we seen those players on the pitch at the same time this season? Can't be a lot. Then I want to see us strengthen the wide areas in the summer and bed in one of the new defenders.

I remain positive and refuse to get drawn into the negativity. Slot won the league last season. That will do for me. When his time is up the club will make the decision. Until then I'll continue to support him and the team.
