Aye, like we were in great shape when FSG took over. Remember those days?

2 league titles in 5 years, £400m spent in the summer and we'll strengthen again this summer. And you wonder why I'm ok with the owners

The rest of you need to look at yourselves.

    • Here he comes.. The shill

5 years. and all of it with Klopps team. But he wants to talk about 30 years when F$G have been here for more than 15...

      Sorry..?

      • I know you don't want to talk about LFC winning. And I also know why. I've sussed you out. You're not a Gooner but you're not a LFC fan either.

So carry on with your anit-LFC agenda. It won't bother me.

I'm happy with what the club are doing. Other's aren't. People like you have an anti-LFC agenda. It takes all sorts.

        • So... let's go to the alternate reality... Let's imagine and fantasise that F$G actually did loosen the purse strings this summer and whack down £400,000,000 net this summer. That would be on top of the squad Klopp left that won the title... And it would amount to more than Klopp had across his nine years at the club...

          https://www.thisisanfield.com/2024/05/liverpools-net-spend-since-2015-highlights-jurgen-klopps-remarkable-job/

May 8, 2024 - Since Klopp arrived in October 2015, Liverpool’s net spend sits at £346 million, the lowest of the ‘big six’ but with the second-most major trophies (seven).

Being miffed at F$G and their poor backing of Klopp is the opposite of being anti LFC.. But supporting the profiteers absolutely IS.

          Come on now jokestrap..

Broach the subject matter kev put down. You love responding to him.. Why so coy on this topic?

          • How many clubs have won the Premier League in the last 8 seasons?

            Comment

            • 2... probably 3 in a few months.. and none that I can remember who have come close to winning the lot - likely - nobody EVER with such a ridiculously low net spend relative to multiple rivals..

we are...... where money the says

              and money does talk.

still don't understand how FSG avoid stick when Klopp could've won a lot more with some money and we wouldn't have had the situation in the summer, it's like i'm the only one that can see it for some reason.

if we miss out on top 5 it's because we've had to play a midfielder at RB and get no reinforcements..... simple as that, it's the FSG way has been for years every other top club would've got someone in, imo.

get the best manager in the world in, still not winning the league again with these owners unless they're actually spending money now in the future , way it is i'm afraid

              • What's the point in arguing?

Klopp carried them for so long & some gems like Mane Coutinho and salah and a lot more that didn't cost 100m, imagine a bit more investment, said it all already.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions.

that's just mine, and I don't think we'll be able to compete with utd who keep pulling money out of nowhere somehow, Chelsea, City, and Arsenal going forward- some have better squads, some have better age-profile whilst we need to replace players.

Is what it is...... FSG finally spent money in the summer yeah lets see if they keep it up ey ??...... maybe they shouldn't have left it for so long for it to be panic stations.

not just about money though the youth is not run as well as it should be, transfer team is not doing as good as it should be, club is not being run as it should be.... imo

with this model we need to sign more gems like Rayan if we're going back to spending fuck all, was a bit random the outlay but it wasn't 400m spent was it? more like 260? still a lot but lets count player sales at least

I still think Klopp left because he knew what was coming, maybe a season early but he's a clever man.

No forward planning whatsoever, not just about the money it's about everything.

FSG is why we are where we are this season, and it has been coming the last 4-5 years of fuck all investment compared to other clubs...... far too late to spend money.... to many changes needed, and squad still being thin due to sales- yet you all can blame slot

Look at the real problem, the bigger picture, is that depth acceptable for a top club?

                Is it fuck.

Is signing noone in January acceptable when we're in a huge fight for top5 and it might cost us?

                Is it fuck.

Correct. City and us. We've been the only team capable of beating City over a season for the last 8 years. And you want to get rid of the owners who oversaw that. Aren't you a clever boy?

                  • I will say though, I don't know how it's not obvious how small the squad is after the injury-prone players, are of course injured because it's the same shit every season

Compared to any around us.... the depth is a farce for a club like us.

but yeah lets blame slot for everything.

This has always been the case though, at times anyway, last season was good, squads win leagues etc especially nowadays with pace of the games and how many games played.... we don't have much of one..... it's not rocket science, i'm not surprised we're 6th.

Only reason arsenal will win it this season, City might have a chance due to spending money because they needed too in jan... think saka and co have been very average on a whole... probably the worst team that'll win it for some time.

No depth, Chiesa is a waste of time, rio is still a kid compare it to other clubs around us, midfield also doesn't get a chance for rotation, Jones is ok, but that's about it and only other option.... then the CB area........ etc etc it's a farce

FSG are also the reason we've won 2 titles in 5 years. Can't have it both ways, ranting about what they do wrong and give no credit for what they've done right.

As for the bolded bit, they are damned if they do and damned if they don't. If they had only spent what they got in player sales then people would have been all over that. When they spend an extra £260m the response is either meh or they spent it on the wrong players.

Chelsea and Utd have zero titles between them over the last 5 years. We have 2. I'm not worried about them in the slightest. LFC are making their own path and it's one I'm happy with.

You do have a point about squad depth. But then you need to talk about the whole squad. These players would either be starters or part of the bench

                            Bradley
                            Frimpong
                            Gomez
                            Isak
                            Leoni
                            Bajcetic

If they were fit and available then suddenly the first 11 and bench looks ok. I don't think our squad is poor. The opposite. But as I keep saying, player form and injuries have wrecked our season. We'll just have to ride this one out.

                            Comment

                            • I mean including Bajcetic is a bit desperate, Gomez& Bradley spend most of the season injured every season, it's why we're short at the back, obviously Leoni injury didn't help but he's only a kid anyhow and probably not the answer...

Still no wide attackers in that list or midfielders well if you include frimpong but he's not a proper one in my opinion he's not going to rotate or start ahead of salah- i'm not including bajcetic you and me know there's no point at this point sadly, endo would get on the pitch before him.

Right but Slot and co will have built a squad at the start of the season. They will have expected players like Gomez and Bradley to miss parts of it due to their previous injury records. In reality Gomez was always going to be backup so they would have been ok with that risk. Then we had Frimpong to cover RB and RW.

I could go on but you get the point. No squad is ever perfect. They will have been happy with what they started the season with but also known that we have gaps. Nobody could forsee Mo becoming an old man overnight. Rio and Gakpo haven't done enough to step up. Neither has Chiesa. So come the summer they will have to fix that. I'll be amazed if we don't sign at least one quality wide player this summer.
