I don't think they'll sack him unless we miss out on the CL.

The only thing keeping us in the hunt for qualification is the fact that we play Chelsea, Villa and Utd consecutively in our last 4 games. If we are still in contact by then and we win we deny them pointsOriginally posted by jozza800 View PostI don't think they'll sack him unless we miss out on the CL.
Otherwise we are not qualifying.

I just worry that we'll be distracted from the run-in by us being in a couple of cup finals in May.Originally posted by redgold View PostThe only thing keeping us in the hunt for qualification is the fact that we play Chelsea, Villa and Utd consecutively in our last 4 games. If we somehow manage to win the CL or FAC, it will be despite Slot, not because of him. If we win the latter that will probably at least mean he is still in charge at the start of next season. If that happens nobody should be surprised if we have another poor PL campaign.

Sorry but LFC-DPG is right, we’re not winning anything especially now Alisson’s outOriginally posted by LFC-DPG View PostSorry but we aren’t winning anything.

He's lost significant players in the team and leadership, they turn up when they want.Originally posted by miller0863 View PostIf a manager can’t motivate then he is not a manager. Wtf are we paying £millions a year for??
Salahs interview, no Guehi/Semenyo, with 1 year left on Slot's contract doesn't exactly scream of support.
3421 you have Grav, Robbo or Kerkez as options for 3rd CB.Originally posted by teesred View PostI've just seen that on Twitter.
I don't think they'll appoint Alonso. We don't have enough for centre backs to play his system at the moment or at all for most of a season.
Alisson
Konate VVD Kerkez
Frimpong Sobozla Grav Gakpo
Salah Wirtz
Ekitike
Klopp as interim makes sense.Originally posted by miller0863 View PostPeople believing Alonso is next in line, are suggesting an interim manager to the end of the season
Why??
Alonso is free to start work tomorrow, absolutely no need for an interim whatsoever.
Think there would be plenty who would still sack him.Originally posted by jozza800 View PostIf we somehow win the Champions League. Are we still of the opinion of getting rid?
Would be mental to sack a manger who wins a title and a European Cup back to back!

I would not want him here next season no matter. However, I agree, the club probably couldn't in all conscience sack a guy who won a league and CL back to back. It would be bitter-sweet for fans though, cheering on the parade thinking we don't really want this guy here. It just shows that life is more complex than the outward appearance.Originally posted by jozza800 View PostIf we somehow win the Champions League. Are we still of the opinion of getting rid?

Regarding alonso, klopp gave fsg plenty of notice that he was leaving and they would have put in a lot of work to find his replacement.
Alonso was rumoured to be high on the list maybe even 1st choice before he chose real madrid,i dont see it as a step back after slot.its highly likely that alonso would have won title with liverpool last season and would be better placed now.Last edited by Ravo19; 24 March 2026, 10:05 AM.

Ooooof.Originally posted by jozza800 View PostIf we somehow win the Champions League. Are we still of the opinion of getting rid?
I don't think it will happen, but if it did - you'd have to wonder about what we could look like going forward.
Our too scorers in the League this season are -
Ekitike - 11
Gakpo - 6
Szoboszlai - 5
Salah - 5
The million dollar question is whether the lack of goals is down to the Manager, or down to the players.
I'll freely admit (as most fans would right now) that I think it would be for the best that he isn't our Manager next season, but I always try to play some "Devil's Advocate" with these things and I do wonder how our League position and goals scored would look if he had access to prime Salah, prime Mane and prime Firmino for example. We seem to lacking somewhat at both ends of the pitch - quality+depth up-front, some wear+tear (and change!) at the back, plus having lost our get-out-of-jail-free card in Trent's diagonals. All adds up.
Loads of this is on Slot, loads of it - but quantifying exactly how much of it is on him when you consider our imbalanced recruitment, injury record, apparent lethargy (tactics/motivation/player stamina) and concession of goals really late in games muddies the waters a little.
Is this season "who Slot is" in terms of tactical set-up, or is this the Managerial version of the season where Suarez constantly hit the woodwork?
Not to mention FOMO - fear of missing out - there will be a number of Managerial options available to clubs this Summer and nobody is going to want to miss out on getting the correct appointment.Your hobbies are rollerblading and you're also a bit of a rat-hound? Steel Wool
