And no… there is no chance Pep picks Robbo. Not in this Universe and he doesn’t take Mane over Foden. Again not because Foden is better BUT because he is safer.

This is Pep and this is the reason he has so many titles. Klopp was never afforded that luxury to be able to deploy that lower risk strategy. Not that Klopp moaned about it - and he relished the challenge…. but thems the facts.

And to address the ‘Short memories of the shilling kind’..

    Roberto Firmino – 3
A pathetic performance from Firmino, who is beginning to bear the brunt of Liverpool supporters’ anger.
The Brazilian did literally nothing, apart from getting offside constantly, and he played with a lethargy that was extremely worrying. His demeanour is naturally laid-back, which is easy to find frustrating.

    ————————————————?? ?————

    Bobby firmino

The fact is during his first season he did have a questionable scoring record.. just 1 goal to his name by early January 2016. Some of us remember. And…..doubts about his overall ability and where he fitted in were commonplace especially before Jurgen was bedded in. He was a project... and Jurgen turned him into a world-beater.

Pointing out the truth of his struggle isn't "shit talking"... it’s acknowledging the massive graft and management it took to get him to the top. Stop rewriting history to suit an agenda... some of us were actually watching.

It highlights the difference maker - Jurgen Klopp - and the huge shoes he left to fill…. and this is what triggers the shills every time. Because it highlights the deficiency from the top. The owners who have spent literally nothing, Got the nation’s most successful club “for a steal” and left us to pay for the rest… Fourteen times their investment if they sold today. Imagine what they have bought with that collateral and leverage - while Klopp had to stretch his squad till it broke again and again.
Myself, Noods & Klopp all knew how good Bobby was based on his time at Hoffenheim.

A player arriving to a new club, in a new country with a less than spectacular morale at the club under Rodgers, who signed off on Bobby so long as BR got his man Benteke, struggled to settle a little, shocker.
LFC 10th in the league when BR wad sacked.

Salah arrived with better goals and assist stats than each of our then front 3 over the previous 2 seasons.
I had predicted he would outperform each of our then front 3 for goals & assists, and he delivered.

Using the history of cituaes PL sides on whoscored you get a most used 11 for each PL season.

Since Pep arrived at Cituae here are the most used left backs & left wing forwards each season over his PL seasons.

Clichy, Zinchenko, Mendy, Delph, Cancelo & Gvardiol.

    Doku, Grealish, Sterling, Sane.

Robbo & Mane bomb each and everyone of those players to the bench.

I'd pick Sane LWF & Mahrez RWF as the scariest cituae opponents in each position.
And again, neither are keeping Salah & Mane out.

    • I jokingly said that Slot would end up making Hodgson look better than he actually was. He seems to be doing his 'best' to turn that joke into a reality.

My point is that not even klopp could have worked under those owners and turned it round.
I agree hodgson wasnt the right man but we had bigger issues,we were close to a points deduction which could have put us in a relegation battle andvif fsg hadnt stepped in we might have not recovered.

FSG got themselves the bargain of all bargains. Make no mistake, they bought us because of how much money they would go on to make, not because they wanted to save us, and by virtue that they are incorrectly seen as our 'saviours'. If FSG's mates hadn't been given the opportunity to buy our club, I 100% guarantee you that someone else would have bought us. We are one of the biggest institutions in world sport. There's not a chance that we'd have gone to the wall.

We need to get someone in who will attract top quality players, not keep someone who will not only have top class players running for the hills, but will also have the few good quality or promising players we have wanting to jump ship.

                    • We have now dropped nine points from winning positions in home league games this season. That's the most points we've dropped from winning positions at Anfield in a single season since 15/16 (14).

                      • How can slot still be manager?
Should have been sacked in december and on the back of loads of bad performances since.
I hope fsg have someone in mind in the summer,i cant think about slot still being in charge next season.

If he hadn’t had Klopp as a manager he may well have gone on to have the very average career that was looking more likely before the great man arrived.
Is correct - and goes for many of that squad,

Bobby had already ripped it up in the BL before arriving at LFC, Klopp impressed we landed him that summer before Klopp arrived.

Bobby had already made his debut for Brazil & Played 11 games for them at Centre-Forward before Klopp arrived at LFC.

In 13/14 he was in the BL whoscored team of the season, Hoffenheim finished 9th.

                              • Yep....Timo Werner had an amazing record in Germany FAR FAR superior to Firmino's... How did that work out for him?

Werner wasn't just "good" for the data ANAL'ists - he was a statistical juggernaut. In his final season at Leipzig (2019/20), he scored 28 goals in 34 league games.

How did it translate in the Premier League...? Yep - we all know.. but let's sweep that under the carpet.

So....Bobby Firmino who became one of the very best for a time here .... had slow start...and a grand total of 1 goal to his name by January 2016. 24 games ....1 goal.. Questionable.. Finished the season well though. Something changed... what could it have been John Henry's Underpants?

Again - for those who would try and tell you day was night - this was penned on the 8th of March 2016...:

                                https://www.espn.co.uk/football/story/_/id/37442670/roberto-firmino-dispelling-doubts-liverpool

Writing about football, particularly making early judgements on players, can be a precarious business.

As an ordinary fan, you can sit calmly, reflect upon the numerous previous talents that took a while to flourish and withhold criticism until such time as it becomes blatantly obvious that player isn't going to make it.

In the case of Liverpool's Roberto Firmino, the turnaround in his form has certainly left this writer swivelling on a hook of his own making.

Back in December 2015, the young Brazilian was utterly wretched against a dominant Watford side that had every right to view a 3-0 win over the Reds as insufficient reward for their overall performance given how poor Liverpool were.

Some low-light ratings for Bobby in the first half of his first season as that "questionable" goal scoring record of 1 in 24 games also showed...

                                West Ham (H) - Aug 29 Premier League 4/10
Off the pace, struggled with the physicality, and was subbed off as Liverpool lost 3–0.

                                Man Utd (A) - Sept 12 Premier League 5/10
Largely anonymous and failed to track back, leading to a 3–1 defeat.

                                Sion (H) - Oct 1 Europa League 5/10
Looked rusty and lacked his usual creative spark in a dull 1–1 draw.

                                Newcastle (A) - Dec 6 Premier League 4/10
Looked lethargic and offered zero goal threat as Liverpool lost 2–0.

                                Watford (A) - Dec 20 Premier League 3/10
Bullied by the Watford defence and offered no movement in a 3–0 loss.

Does this sound like the player that became the "best in the world"..?

Nope.... and we know why and how that transformation took place... regardless of what a shill would try to suggest.
