Werner wasn't just "good" for the data ANAL'ists - he was a statistical juggernaut. In his final season at Leipzig (2019/20), he scored 28 goals in 34 league games.

How did it translate in the Premier League...? Yep - we all know.. but let's sweep that under the carpet.

So....Bobby Firmino who became one of the very best for a time here .... had slow start...and a grand total of 1 goal to his name by January 2016. 24 games ....1 goal.. Questionable.. Finished the season well though. Something changed... what could it have been John Henry's Underpants?

Again - for those who would try and tell you day was night - this was penned on the 8th of March 2016...:

Writing about football, particularly making early judgements on players, can be a precarious business.

As an ordinary fan, you can sit calmly, reflect upon the numerous previous talents that took a while to flourish and withhold criticism until such time as it becomes blatantly obvious that player isn't going to make it.

In the case of Liverpool's Roberto Firmino, the turnaround in his form has certainly left this writer swivelling on a hook of his own making.

Back in December 2015, the young Brazilian was utterly wretched against a dominant Watford side that had every right to view a 3-0 win over the Reds as insufficient reward for their overall performance given how poor Liverpool were.

Some low-light ratings for Bobby in the first half of his first season as that "questionable" goal scoring record of 1 in 24 games also showed...

    West Ham (H) - Aug 29 Premier League 4/10
Off the pace, struggled with the physicality, and was subbed off as Liverpool lost 3–0.

    Man Utd (A) - Sept 12 Premier League 5/10
Largely anonymous and failed to track back, leading to a 3–1 defeat.

    Sion (H) - Oct 1 Europa League 5/10
Looked rusty and lacked his usual creative spark in a dull 1–1 draw.

    Newcastle (A) - Dec 6 Premier League 4/10
Looked lethargic and offered zero goal threat as Liverpool lost 2–0.

    Watford (A) - Dec 20 Premier League 3/10
Bullied by the Watford defence and offered no movement in a 3–0 loss.

Does this sound like the player that became the "best in the world"..?

Nope.... and we know why and how that transformation took place... regardless of what a shill would try to suggest.
Only you can provide a link that shows how stoopid you are

Timo Werner did not make the whoscored BL team of the season twice.

He was not a Brazilian international.

Leipzig finished 3rd in Werners last 2 seasons.

They finished 2nd the year after he left.

    • Clearly

      Timo Werner 222 91 0.41
      Roberto Firmino 140 38 0.27

And no he wasn't a Brazilian international - not that that has ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT he was the first name on the German Team Sheet tho...!

Remember them their 2015 team Beat Brazil 7:1 - in Brazil..

YOu really are too much CCTV... God help you lad..

Brings the Bundesliga stats into a chat about Bobby Firmino's transformation under Klopp. From 1 goal in 24 and some awful - awful games in 2015... "to the most unique false nine the world has ever seen - the heartbeat of the team who defended like a beast and assisted like a magician."

      • Not playing Bobby as a winger certainly helped! Bobby was a lovely player but anyone could see he didn't have the pace to play on the wing.

Like a certain German we have at the moment...

One of the best things I liked about Jurgen was he didn't try to be too clever. Very square pegs in very square holes.

He's said himself he wasn't the best tactically but he knew how to balance a team. He understood space creation and denial. Something that Slot apparently does not.

        • Yep... It is a simple game.. Always was. But not many can keep it there - and almost nobody ever could transform a player the way Jurgen did.

The very thing you are doing, pulled from the article you provided

Bobby in the whoscored team of the season twice before he left.
Had his international debut before joining LFC.

Neither Firmino or Werner involved in the 7-1 game.

But generally speaking people would take a Brazilian 9 over a German.

Anyway, I've shown you the left backs and left wing forwards Pep picked in his cituae side.

And I've shown how pep picks 5 of Klopps players in his best 11 from both squads.
            Maybe 6 with Trent.

In contrast, you've not mentioned Mane or Robbo at all,
and are unsure if Pep picks Salah over Bastardo at RWF

As time has shown, anyone making early negative judgements on Firmino were wrong.

            • The first bit just highlights your madness..Who is making early judgements on players? Please explain... Suggesting Firmino had a questionable scoring record is a fact.. not judgement.. and it is made from the future (now) looking back to the past - not the present…1 goal in 24 games is very questionable"... 🤨 It was used to highlight how Klopp transformed him.. As anyone else knows.

AND the only thing you have shown is that beyond being a corporate whore for Henry... you're also a complete idiot.

Not only do you continually miss read everything. You fail to understand anything - and then try to invent new rules when you get busted.

WTF has Bobby or Werner not playing the in 7:1 Drubbing that Germany handed to Brazil in Brazil - got to do with any of this? It was YOU who brought Brazil into it. And why - to try and tell us Bobby was was a world beater when we bought him. Well As those of us who go to games know full well - he wasn't. He was in fact underwhelming in the extreme until well into Klopp's reign actually. Not untill the back end of that season did he start to show his quality. Still nothing like what he would become but still.

              Disconnect... you're an embarrassment

                  Heres your combined 11

                  GK: Alisson
                  RB: Kyle Walker
                  CB: Virgil Van Dijk
                  CB: John Stones
                  LB: Josko Gvardiol
                  CDM: Rodri
                  CM: Kevin De Bruyne
                  CM: David Silva
RW: Mohamed Salah or Bernardo Silva
                  LW: Phil Foden
ST: Erling Haaland or Segio Aguero

                  2 LFC players, maybe 3.
3 of your 13 are cituae players.

                  Heres mine

                  Alisson
                  Trent Kompany VVD Robbo
                  KDB Rodri David/Bastardo Silva
                  Salah Halaand Mane

6 of the 11 LFC players.
6 of the 12 LFC players.
And 5 of the 6 LFC players are nailed on.

Bobby was ripping it up in the BL.
He had already made his international debut for Brazil.
Klopp was a big admirer of Bobby before he signed for LFC.
Bobby was in the BL team of the year twice.

You keep running down LFC players,

Bernardo Silva or Mo Salah at RWF

                  Mane, no mention

And as ever, running down Robbo.

                  • Since Pep arrived at Cituae here are the most used left backs & left wing forwards each season over his PL seasons.

Clichy, Zinchenko, Mendy, Delph, Cancelo & Gvardiol.

                    Doku, Grealish, Sterling, Sane.

Mane & Robbo better than each and everyone of them.

He must be gutted - all that graft to turn doubters into believers. The fight against the penny pinchers while trying to meet the demands of competing for the title and the CL. Transforming players into those capable of competing at the top level. Rebuilding the club back into a winning machine once again.

He would have been so proud of his players last season - and aghast at how poorly many were treated and then this debacle of a season.

But at the same time, what has happened this season has validated his work all the more and shown why he can take the higher ground in any cock measuring contest with Edwards
