Ekitike has the spot for the rest of the season. Kinda feel for Isak a bit. I'm sure he expected to be the main man. He has been unlucky with that injury and now is being overshadowed by the youngster.

He's not doing too bad is he? don't think he'll be a backup in the future.

Top striker, we should have got that big lanky german newcastle did instead eh?!?!

He's class Hugo's boss, just need to sort the rest of the team out, when we have quality options outwide, Wirtz working with a good front 3 will be mad, Hugo will work well with them coming inside also.
He has been awesome so far. Think I mentioned it before that we tracked him for 6 seasons before getting him. If he keeps going at this rate Isak will struggle to get back into the team. Unless we find a way to play both of them together. Which isn't out of the question. I said in the OP that Ekitike reminds me of Thierry Henry. I reckon he could play off the left with Isak through the middle.

He and Wirtz are starting to form a nice little partnership. We just need to sort the two midfield positions behind them.

@Nineteen - Would you rather have Nunez back over Ekitike? If so, I would hazard a guess you'd be the only Liverpool fan on the planet that would...
Defintely had a bit of Torres about it with the speed and the finish. What a player he was.

I see more Henry myself. Maybe it's the size. He seems to love taking on players from that left hand side.

Imagine keeping the two of them fit and having Ekitike for 65-70 and bringing Isak on.

          On a regular basis. Tasty.

Just need the four wide forward options

Will a 4 3 1 2 work with wirtz behind ekitikie and isak?
Have noticed ekitikie like to start off wide left and my hated 4 2 3 1 could suit him .
433 best playing with 3 top forwards

Kerkez and Frimoong will never deliver what Robbo and Trent did from full back and relying on them to provide the width is folly

Both the 9’s are better in a front 3

Wouldnt mind eritikie isak ??? but dont see wirtz as a 8 in midfield 3.

The charity shield is like the domestic super cup, these are different competitions. You need to be successful to get the chance to play in 5.

Between Salah & Mane they've had the opportunity to score in 5 comps in one season, three times at LFC.

Sadio played in 5 comps in 19/20 - failed.
He scored in 3 comps, the PL, CL & Super-Cup. He failed to score in 90 minutes in the FA Cup
& over 142 minutes in the club WC.

Mo played in 6 comps in 19/20 - failed.
He scored in 2 comps, the PL & CL.
He failed to score in 21 minutes in the FA Cup
& 120 minutes in the community shield.
                & 120 minutes in the Super-Cup.
& over 210 minutes in the club WC

Mo played in 5 comps in 22/23 - suceeded.
He scored in 5 comps, the PL, CL, FA Cup, EFL Cup & community shield.

Mo has only done it once in his LFC career to date, and the only other person to do it in their debut season at LFC is Kenny Dalglish.
Suarez for Barca in 15/16 played in 6 competitions and scored in 5.
So he's scored in 5 comps in 1 season once.

Messi in 15/16 played in 6 competitions and scored in 6.
In 11/12 he played in 6 competitions and scored in 6.
In 09/10 he played in 6 competitions and scored in 5.
In 06/07 he played in 5 comps and scored in 3.

So none of those have done it in their debut season.
In their entries careers, by my count...
Salah once. Suarez once. Messi 3 times.

Just shows how bloody hard it is to do anytime, nevermind in your debut season.

Rush did it at LFC in 82/83 & 92/93.

                        2 great goals by Hugo

Pressing was miles better, was winning the ball and getting hold of it or not letting the defender get a good clearing header like Mane or Diogo would need to have a runner backing up the long balls to him to win the second balls

                        Two great goals

must hold me hands up, got this a bit wrong never said he'd be shit or I didn't rate him mind, I just didn't want him to get overhyped to early and was a bit quick to judge at first, think it was stevo I was debating with start of the season.. well you got it right pal fair play

But yeah what a player, does remind me a bit of torres, he'll only get better when we add to the squad in the future also, a bit more help from outwide.

Right and left is concerning.. salah sadly can't be a god he has been forever and the decline has been steep.... who knows he might be great again.. and gakpo for me just isn't good enough- and doesn't work with Kerkez well, and I don't think it's kerkez's fault- think we need 2 attackers in the future with some pace... but it's a work in progress

Playing with pacy wingers is the way Slot likes to play. I’ll be surprised if we don’t get at least 1 in the summer. And yea Ekitike is superb.

The Ekitike Wirtz partnership is really kicking on. It has a touch of Kenny Rush about it.

Ekitike has been brilliant from his first game, no need for excuses about his age, moving to a new country, playing in a different league etc etc etc.
