Frimpong isn't good enough to be a regular starter in both the RB and RW positions. He should be used as cover for, or an occasional alternative to better and more suitable players.

I really want to see him deployed as a wing-back in a 3-5-2 or at least let off the leash in a regular back four if Szobo is willing to do a Hendo-esque role and cover space behind him.Originally posted by Ravo19 View PostThoughts on frimping?
For me not the right fit and i would cash in on him.
Ideally the 3-5-2 though. Love that he can cover a couple of positions. Would like to see something more akin to his performances in Germany mind.Your hobbies are rollerblading and you're also a bit of a rat-hound? Steel Wool

If Bradley gets back to showing his early form then I don't see what role frimpong will have if a top wide player also comes in to replace salah. He'll be the cover for those 2 players. Unless we save the ££ (no shock there) and let him have a good run at RW from start of season. If he can't cut it then he should be on the bench with Jones, gakpo, elliott and kostas. The trouble with our bench though is when 4 or 5 of them are all on the pitch at the same time due to injury, suspension and rotation cover. Then the overall quality drops off a cliff

That last part is why most, if not all of those players that were mentioned shouldn't even be on our bench. We're a massive club. We should have a bench that contains players that we're confident of being able to come on and do a good job. Not having a strong bench or squad is a large reason as to why we've not won more than we have in the PL era.

Agreed, either the managers aren't asking for it or the owners aren't providing it. We've been 2 or 3 really good midfielders short for many years (including no proper 6) and maybe 1 good forward short. I believe Klopp though was telling the truth when he said he preferred to worth with a small squad, although we did need that extra quality to pip peak City teams and RM in CL. You need about 17 top players available to compete. Klopp said on at least one occasion that he wanted more players but that such things weren't up to him. The trouble with us, including under Klopp is that we've had very good players and very good first elevens, but once we've have to call upon the bench players, never mind the rest of the squad, the drop off in quality has been very big.Originally posted by sydenham red View PostAgreed, either the managers aren't asking for it or the owners aren't providing it. You can get away with having a good quality, smallish squad if only one or two players are absent for a small period of time, or you've not got a packed schedule, but if you are going deep in four completions most seasons you're going to have serious issues unless you have a sizeable squad that has a lot of good to top quality players in it.

Robertson from Hull, Matip on a free transfer, Wijnaldum from Newcastle etcOriginally posted by Ravo19 View PostBit concerned the rumour is linking us with players from teams like newcastle, palace, sunderland, spurs hopefully a few media stories but not the high profile players we need to push us on again
So long as they gel and contribute more as a collective than their individual talent, I generally speaking don't mind where we acquire our players.Your hobbies are rollerblading and you're also a bit of a rat-hound? Steel Wool

Hahahaha - in hindsight after that window, I wonder how many Reds wish we had done one of our more "normal" windows of buying potential or on-the-cusp players rather than the attempt to massively elevate our attack?Originally posted by Daffydd View PostIsak from Newcastle lol
It's a pity we sacrificed the depth that we did. Also the Diaz thing - I still think accepting a big fee for a player like Diaz was fine - it was the subsequent lack of replacing him with a 22-25 year old with a high ceiling and electric pace (and/or intense work-rate) that was the issue.
Recruitment will be fascinating this Summer. Not sure if this will be a Summer where I mentally check out from it and see who we bought when the season starts, or if it'll be one where I find myself googling Liverpool transfer links every hour

In hindsight that transfer window was very "un-Liverpool" if that makes sense?
It was exciting but some of us did share the concerns of too much flux. It just wasn't the way we usually do things and maybe that proof is in the dessert.......I mean pudding. The defining moments in our lives are never planned.

A few good points from you lads but a few of them where added to team better than the one we have now.all targets mentioned are a gamble being added to a team thats been a bit of a mess and slot looks like being in charge none of players mention are going to lift players and fans

I'm not too concerned about the player profile in the sense of "stars" to inject us with optimism.Originally posted by Ravo19 View PostA few good points from you lads but a few of them where added to team better than the one we have now.all targets mentioned are a gamble being added to a team thats been a bit of a mess and slot looks like being in charge none of players mention are going to lift players and fans
Right now I want depth, pace and work-rate. Depth helps us get games over the line, which means wins - wins lift fans. Even just a Ji-Sung Park profile kind of player who is willing to give everything can have a knock-on effect to other lads around them. I'd be all over us becoming a bunch of Wasps at a picnic again, which I don't think we'll see sadly.
More concerned about Slot v someone else. It would appear that he is staying and we are "all in" on assembling a side that will suit his methodology at Feyenoord and that could mean a lot of fixing if it doesn't work.
It's easy to envisage a repeat of Brendan's last season where Slot needs shifted quite fast and we are wanting a new Manager. Seems daft given the list that will be available in the Summer to subsequently not be available in Autumn.Your hobbies are rollerblading and you're also a bit of a rat-hound? Steel Wool

We lost so much chemistry and memorisation of patterns of play, which came at a time when we lost a lot of our press (Jota, Diaz, Darwin) and our get out of jail free card in Trent transitioning the ball from deep-right to high-left....PLUS Mo's drop-off, plus none of the new signings hitting the ground running even if they all have excellent individual qualifities.Originally posted by teesred View PostGood points Sid.

Continuing the "reset" next season on a background of the insipid displays this season is risky. We're now hoping for new arrivals coming in and instantly clicking with what's here to get things rolling.....gulp!Your hobbies are rollerblading and you're also a bit of a rat-hound? Steel Wool
