Agree £50m for Lavia is too expensive.
Unsure on the Thuram deal - I know if I was our Press Officer I'd always lean to putting out that we had "limited funds" as a negotiation strategy, though you can't employ that all the time as it becomes see-through.

Take your point on Henderson and Thiago, but if they are played less and/or don't play Thursday-Sunday-Thursday due to rotation of Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Jones, Elliott, Bajcetic, Fabinho, Trent (in new role) then they should be less injury-prone and more available.

Our big rotation problem was that we had too many sicknotes. Want to give Hendo a rest? Ox and Keita are unavailable etc - the hope is that we now have more fit-and-available players than before and with any joy we will continue to replace the older mids, be it this window or windows to come, namely Thiago (leaves next Summer anyway) Henderson and Fabinho - hopefully bolstered by youth coming through such as further development for Bajcetic or Morton stepping up.

    Interesting…..

There is a very real chance that Levi Colwill is going to be the future of England's defence.

The Chelsea starlet cut his teeth out on loan with Brighton during the 2022/23 season, and talkSPORT understands the Blues have offered him a new long-term contract.
However, he turned down a similar deal from his club earlier this year, so his future is very much up in the air.

Brighton have seen two bids rejected for the 20-year-old, while Liverpool are huge admirers of the young defender.

The central defender was born in Southampton and became best friends with German international Jamal Musiala.

The pair played together for City Central FC, and he shares a birthday with the mercurial Bayern Munich ace.
But it was a Premier League legend from another team that inspired Colwill while he was growing up.

Steven Gerrard was Colwill's childhood idol and spoke about him while playing for Huddersfield.

He said: “Growing up, it was always Steven Gerrard who I loved seeing and how he used to lead.
"I was amazed by him and I used to have his pictures up in my room. I always used to copy him before training or even in matches. I would dress in the same boots as him.

"I looked up to him. I wasn't a central midfielder, but I wanted his mentality."

He has demonstrated this elite mentality on many occasions during his early career.

Colwill led the Terriers to the Championship play-off final with his excellent ball-carrying and incisive passing as he became a leader in the defence despite still being a teenager.

Think they have stated they want a World record fee for him and I can't see us sinking £80m on him whether we have the funds or not.

Our staff seem to decide on the value of a player and if a valuation exceeds that by much, we switch target.

Would be brilliant though - and we do have players that we can afford to sell if funds need topped up. Whilst I am not looking to "drive anyone to the Airport myself" or anything, any of -

    - Fabinho
    - Thiago
    - Tsimikas
    - Nat Phillips
    - Matip

    - could be sold if we wish to prioritise elsewhere. Certainly don't think we should aim to shift all of them as we would leave ourselves short, but one or two could make way to eat into any fee for Colwill.

Yeah but then we would be partially sort of funded by the Saudis and our club karma would be entwined and forever tainted by oil money, and all just for a promising left sided centre back. or something.

Don't give up hope. I found a fella's Wallet recently and returned it to him - it was on a main road and when I got it to him he said that I had done so about 5 minutes before he was going to ring all the Banks etc to cancel all his cards.

    May show up yet.

"Liverpool have reportedly made a club record €200m (£170m) offer to sign PSG attacker Kylian Mbappe, who is believed to be up for sale.

According to journalist Edu Aguirre, the Reds have launch a huge bid to bring the 24-year-old French international to Anfield, with Liverpool long viewed as a potential destination for Mbappe once the superstar attacker decides to leave France for good.

Aguirre said: “What has occurred, in the last few hours, in the offices of PSG is that an offer from Liverpool has arrived. Liverpool have entered the scene, Liverpool have made a €200m offer for Mbappe. The offer from Liverpool that has arrived in the last few hours in the offices of PSG is of €200m. Al-Khelaifi has put Mbappe up for sale.”

Not sure we need another left-sided attacked to be honest.

(We're not getting him, quote her purely for the lols)
