The CB addition you'd hope will be a long term replacement for Virgil.
And to be fair to the club making that replacement is all but impossible. I don’t think we’ve seen the like. He is far and away the best CB I’ve ever seen and I’m 52. Baresi was great in a side built to defend and with fellow world class defensive options all around him. Virgil just dropped into a side that was a defensive shambles.

Has one defender ever had such an impact on a side? I can’t think of any instance to compare. Near total aerial dominance… the shepherding of the entire back line… the keeper - the full backs but also the mids in front of him - then there’s that composure and calm - the deceptive pace - the power and the technique - Virgil is just pure undiluted quality. A freakishly good player.

Impossible to replace like for like.

A draw would be a great result , it should be a good game as they like to attack and that will leave spaces for us to exploit . My only fear is Trent.

Fully agree. Best CB I've ever seen too. There's been amazing defenders over the years but when you add in his distribution too the other attributes you've put down he's in a league of his own.
Frightening thought that we'll one day be without that Colossus who's the lynchpin of the whole thing.
There's not one CB I'd swap him with from the ones I've watched.

Must be truthful I'm not feeling that we'll go through this Rd of the CL. Hope I'm surprised though.

He'll be harder than Mo to replace.

Depends which PSG turn up. And depends which Liverpool turns up...

We've not really been pushed this season and almost feels like we've been coastiing in 2nd or 3rd gear for the most part.

If we're at our best we'd beat every side left in the competion, baring Real. Who, if at there best will walk the rest of competiion.

Aye true. They're scoring for fun but haven't come up against a top side during this winning run they are currently on.
We'll see on Wednesday. I'd take a draw.

    That’s damn bad news

Diaz seems to be fast improving, Jota gets a goal he’ll do on a run
