We’re nowhere near done with Frimpong, Kerkez and Wirtz
Who on earths paying 40-50mill for Quansah? Man utd perhaps ?

    Doak 30m?? more like 20

    anyways.....

“I expect the medical will take place in the next days. As we expect a total agreement between Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen within the next one, two or maybe three days.

“And the total package is now almost €150m with a big package of possible add-ons included. Florian Wirtz is totally convinced that the deal will happen in the next couple of days.”

Glad we're actually doing something now we're on top unlike last time... just makes me wonder why suddenly splashing the cash, i'm glad though but this is crazy for FSG

Perhaps the tale of Utd this season has proved a cautionary one of what can happen when you get it wrong. We have been lucky recently with not buying and manager change. It could have gone very wrong...

Stadium enhancements, training facilities, squad investment in the form of bigger wages/improved contracts to keep our stars. We haven't always seen the money go into transfer fees, but investment has occured into the long-term future of the club, which hopefully means we can be successful in a post-Klopp era, a post-Slot era and eventually a post-FSG era as well.

After 18/19 we saw improved contracts for Klopp, for Salah, for Mans, for Firmino, for Henderson, for Robertson and (later) Alisson and Van Dijk. Our wage bill really crept up over the years and we have been showing a willingness to give big wages when merited. The Wirtz deal (if it goes through) suggests more willingness to invest in attempts to win more silverware and continue our capacity to generate our own funds, which is ultimately how our owners see the picture, which I understand many don't like.

We tend to generate via sales as well to avoid over-spend on wages and had pockets where we probably didn't get what we hoped for some players at key times - Shaqiri, Original, Wilson, Grujic, Lovren, Marius, Ox etc we probably wanted bigger fees than what we were offered and some players left on free transfers. Some of that was being stubborn in our evaluations (Ox and that centre-back whose name is escaping me were valued at £15m by us and we turned down £12.5 bids for each one Summer - should have taken the £25m and reinvested and we didn't....) which can cause temporary problems, but the "say what we mean and mean what we say" probably benefits our negotiation stance in the long-term.

£114m on the Main Stand, £50m on the new training facility. Hopefully we aren't at an impasse for further development at Anfield, though I appreciate there are complications - but the stadium has improved a fair bit without us ending up with a generic bowl. Appreciate it isn't everyone's cup of tea, which is fine.

The unwillingness of the owners to go beyond "spending within our means" has grated many for years, but I am quietly confident that it will be a contributing factor in us having a safer future than most clubs. Fingers crossed. It's so easy for clubs to over-spend in the wrong areas and suddenly find themselves struggling without Champion's League revenue, whereas we look generally pretty healthy.

Is there a better way? Probably is - but I'm largely content so far - and am very curious to see how this Summer window pans out as our squad feels really good. We probably have 15/16 players that Slot feels he can rely on and if we can push that up to 18/19 players and enable better squad rotation whilst maintaining whatever fitness programs we have that have seen Van Dijk and Salah able to play so many minutes then we are laughing for a little while yet.

Wirtz will hopefully be a big part of a changing squad that will, with luck, see lads like Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Szoboszlai, Wirtz, Frimpong, Mamardashvili and others who aren't here yet thrive in the coming years. Need to get it over the line first mind!

Fingers crossed we get this one done and Kerkez (Bournemouth have just signed a new left back from Rennes) before the transfer window clicks shut tonight.

We are playing the rest of the world. Every day.

It's amazing how buoyed we all are by signing Frimpong while other clubs get business done. But yeah delay the signings and save wages, makes sense. Lmfao

Arsenal have done a lot I see ?

    Only the usuals...

Wirtz already said only club is liverpool he'll move too ......

Seems like we're not that bothered about a striker yet- I assume we'll have to sell to buy after Wirtz, shame noone wants Nunez for the club world cup.... i wonder why... very much doubt we'll make enough from sales to get a CF/CM/CB after Kerkez, Wirtz and Frimpong

Yeah apparently we'll "listen to offers" for Tsimikas, Nunez and Chiesa.

    Maybe Elliot will leave too...

Centre back is the most urgent need for me.
