I am concerned that Ekitike is no better at all and we would seriously be better off keeping Darwin than blowing £85m on him.

Ekitike has a lot of potential in several areas, but is incredibly frustrating in the finishing department.

Darwin Núñez comparisons (in that sense) are totally understandable, as would Raheem Sterling comparisons. With some players you can drill movement patterns into them so that they are always arriving at the back post for easier chances (Pep Guardiola with Raheem Sterling) but I'd really rather we were looking at lads who had a few different finishes that they can consistently deliver.

If Slot can coach him into being a better finisher then fair enough - but otherwise it seems an inefficient use of resources.

Arsenal and Sporting are on the verge of a total agreement for the transfer of Viktor Gyokeres, according to multiple reports.

Arsenal have agreed a fixed fee of £55m for the striker but negotiations are still ongoing over the £8.7m (€10m) add-ons.

Talks to resolve that are said to be now at an extremely advanced stage, with a conclusion imminent.

Surprised we didn't go for him tbh, surely the safer option? must be a reason.

In theory could've signed Ekitike sold Nunez... wouldn't have been far off Gyokeres price...... and get Gyokeres instead obviously jota gone and Nunez these 2 come in..

Sweden striker Alexander Isak, 25, wants £300,000 a week to sign a new contract at Newcastle. (Talksport)

He definitely strengthens Arsenal, but he isn't especially two-footed and we seem to be chasing pretty technical players.

He is also renowned for being good/fine in terms of defensive work-rate but not "excellent" in that department.

That would be my speculative guesswork as to us not jumping at the chance for him. He's certainly not a dud, we just feel there are better fits - presumably.

Yeah my point is insidious, Could've seen Nunez out, him in sell nunez for 40-50m wouldn't be off the funds needed for him

    and Ekiteke in?

even throw in chiesa to make up fo the other 10-15, he'd have provided another option up front, not just very fluid / technical, still looks good enough for me in those areas but yeah, physical like nunez too, but can find the net.

would've been a perfect replacement for nunez in my view.

Think Gyokeres looks a bit flat footed and a bit clumsy to me. Plus he's only had a few seasons in the Championship and the Portuguese league and at 27 he's hardly a youngster.

He still might turn out to be a stellar signing for them, but he wouldn't be one I'd be going after.

Dunno how they get him and Havertz in the team.. Looks like the latter won't start many games..

Chelsea are in talks to sign Jorrel Hato from Ajax.

He is one of a number of centre-backs they have been looking at.

Any further signings at Chelsea are dependent on exits.

Chelsea have held also held talks over the signing of Xavi Simons at RB Leipzig.
