I imagine the club would be too, in fairness.

We're quite clearly trying to massively future-proof the squad. The age profile suggests this side could compete for the title in the 26/27, 27/28, 28/29 and 29/30 seasons as well as remaining competitive in 25/26 while we have this huge turnover of the squad. I am reluctant to use the word "transition" as that always comes with the connotation of "we'll be crap now, to be good later" in the same way that when people say they want a "top four" finish the assumption is scraping 4th, when the sides that finish in first and second (title win or title challenge) also finish with the top four spots.

But yeah, to rewind - I don't think the club "plans" on entering the 25/26 season without Isak and Guehi, or appropriate alternatives if they aren't taking the "Van Dijk" approach of waiting it out until they get the player they want.

He would be 24 by then and whilst a like-for-like replacement for Salah is a next-to-impossible find, he could probably perform pretty respectably at our club - hate dealing with Bayern when it comes to transfers though.
      Olise formerly of Palace?
There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief

        That's the one.

        - 10 goals in 19 League appearances in 23/24 in the Premier League
        - 12 goals in 34 League appearances in 24/25 in the Bundesliga

If the fee was reasonable I can see why we'd consider him as an option in our attack and we could potentially improve his output as well.

Probably not a 38-starts sort of player, but he seems to have progressed a fair bit over the last couple of seasons.

            .
Like right now with both our RBs injured?
            Wait is Gomez fit?

Gomez I think will be available later, but I don't foresee a 90-minute feature from him.

I think one of Szoboszlai, Endo or Jones will start at right-back and Gomez will come on for the last 15-20 or something.

                  Lovely.

Hope the fast-spreading rumour that Isak is already done and it will be announced this week (£135m) holds some accuracy.

Would be nice to have that whole affair put to bed either way.

                            • Lots of business to do in the next few days, in and out.

Who would have come on instead of Elliott last night if his transfer saga had ended, maybe Nyoni?

Tsmikas looks to be either Roma or Marseille bound. Wonder what's happening with Bajcetic?

                              • with the sad passing of Diogo and other outgoings.....I'm starting to think even if we did get Issak and Guehi the bench is looking a little thin!
