  • I'm really looking forward to some of our esteemed members talking us through that goal. There are at least 5 key things happen, just in that clip.

    • Missed him today. Couple of nice flicks... but we need much much more. I know Silva is on another level but still - instead of being in awe... do the basics.

      • He was fairly quiet overall. Would have loved to see him bury that chance. He tried to place it instead of blast it. Of course everything is perfect with hindsight.

Given his undoubted quality he'll be back firing soon enough.

        • He was very good without the ball today should have scored though always tries to place it when he needs to put laces through it

That's a great point. His work rate is phenomenal. Often goes unnoticed.

Not by me, his pressing and counter pressing was very good we should have just kept on doing that

We did drop off and I invite them to play rather than them playing their way back in to it and it’s happening too often that’s on the manager

This thread is about Wirtz and we can agree on the above.

                • Lets discuss how many times he gives the ball away. he was shocking in the first half. hes been shocking his entire time when it comes to giving up the ball easily.. Doesn't help the rest of the time. when the opposition counter attack.

He was partly to blame for their equaliser. He floated a really poor cross over to Salah I think whilst we were in a good position near their box.
They got possession and the goal came from that.
I do think he's getting better and having more of an impact but he definitely needs to work on retaining possession better.

                    • Had zero positive affect on the game yet again, though some would have you believe he’s “World Class”.

                      • Thought it was a "decent" performance with the ball overall and not much to be unhappy about besides the giveaway.

Thought it was an excellent off-the-ball performance. He was pressing like how Lallana used to at times when he wasn't suffering with the injuries.

One of the least of our problems and still only 22. Hopefully in time we can get some genuine pace on the flanks to increase passing options for him and see more space created. Salah isn't what he was (time waits for no man) and we know Gakpo's cut-inside routine.

But a fantastic presser, which is where the comparison was made.

He had the best first touch of any English player since Paul Gascoigne.
