yep - well we only drove up today and will head back tomorrow am - a round trip of 460 miles… And we knew we were going to see the team we love lose - at home 1 hour before KOOriginally posted by miller0863 View PostThought I’d post this here as well
Knowing we would be playing a big physical side in Palace, who even the first team struggle with, playing a load of little kids was unacceptable to me. We may as well have forfeited the game and saved everyone the time and money of filling the ground.
Totally disrespectful towards the fans.
He’s thrown away a trophy chance for a game against Villa at the weekend.
Totally disrespectful towards have absolutely no one on the bench was absolutely baffling.
For example, City played Doku, Cherki, Oscar Bobb and Marmoush as a front 4.
To see the game out Chelsea brought on Neto and when Delap got a second yellow, they brought on Caicedo.
Saka came on for a decent Arsenal side and scored their second.
Newcastle weren’t far off full strength
And our opponents Palace, played 5 or 6 first teamers and brought on Mateta at half time.
Who did we bring on? Sideshow Bob and Red Card Nallo.
Everyone rests players for early cup games but the entire squad for a full house against a Premier League opponent??
Absolute madness

Nineteenx is believing what he wants to believe It's always the same with him
I would doubt 100% Klopp will return to LFC,he had 9 years...I can't see it happening whatsoever
Anyway back to Slot. I think I'm allowed to criticise him without wanting him sacked. Todays game wasn't a good result. But we've seen Klopp lose games like this and rest players for more important fixtures. Considering our current injury list. was best not to play more of our first team. We have a small squad. again you can't blame Slot for that.. even though we got numerous players in the summer. we still lost equal amount in departures.
Thats me being on Slot's side. now for the criticism. His inability to change systems and to learn from previous meetings with Palace is a massive disappointment. You know how Palace will set up.. they'll play deep with a back 5 with 2 in front and then run at you with pace through the middle we still try and play the normal 4/3/3. Our wide players are ineffective. cause Palace play 5 at the back with their wing backs being full backs .. you have to change something.. Bring your wide players into the centre and make 3 against 3. or do something different..Cleaning up the Scots since the 13th century

And i don't know who keeps telling the players to boot the ball long... Chiesa is not Peter Crouch.. We don't even have Nunez to add physicality.. I can understand we need to switch up play.. And we over play and get nowhere. But being sensible wouldn't go amissCleaning up the Scots since the 13th century

Klopp managed it at Liverpool.Originally posted by pob View Post6 defeats in 7 matches. I don't think even Ten Hag managed that at United?
Match days 22-28 of the 20/21 season we lost 6 and won just the one - in the League.
Match days 4-10 of the 14/15 season as Dortmund manager also was a 6-losses-in-7 spell, with the other game being a draw.
This is not a dig at Jürgen, nor is it a guarantee that Slot will turn things around - just an acknowledgement that slumps happen.
What will be intriguing (if Slot gets the time and isn't sacked) will be where we are as we enter February or so. By that stage we'll have gone through further fires, Slot will hopefully have learnt further lessons about the nature of the League, certain additions will have further adjusted to the pace of the League and we'll have had a forced spell without Salah (AFCON) during which we may land on a team/system that we can take going forward.
Outside of low confidence and some injuries, there's definitely something to be said for the idea that we may have too many Pianists and not enough Piano-carriers.
Just hope we can address it.Your hobbies are rollerblading and you're also a bit of a rat-hound? Steel Wool

Not so easy keeping squad players happy. sometimes players demand they are starters, before they sign contracts.
then theres contract money. you can't have everyone on 200 grand a week. makes you wonder how the likes of Chelsea get away with it.Cleaning up the Scots since the 13th century

I think the problem is that wasn’t even squad players, I understand the pathway, but I don’t understand using kids that don’t have the required potential to move into the first team squad , a few of these kids haven’t even been pulling up trees In the academy . It should be a place where you play 8 first team fringe players and bring in a few younger players to see what they can doOriginally posted by justme View PostNot so easy keeping squad players happy. sometimes players demand they are starters, before they sign contracts.

Arsenal seem fine...... and have some decent youth........Originally posted by justme View PostNot so easy keeping squad players happy. sometimes players demand they are starters, before they sign contracts.

But carry on, lets make excuses for not having any depth compared to everyone else in the usual top4
can't have everyone on over 200k a week yet we spend 460m, imagine the agent bonuses / signing on fees...... too....... paying declining players- mad wages
But ok..... according to site i've seen we're paying more wages than Chelsea... 250kish behind arsenal a week...... yet.... they have everywhere covered and good depth we have nothing, good init..... Oh wait that's a lie at least we've Got Chiesa and gomez...... amazingg then a bunch of overhyped kids that'll go nowhere! yipeeeeeee.... compare them to arsenals kids
we got lucky with the injury front compared to arsenal last season, arsenal picking up injury's again but have the squad to cover it no problem..... Squad wins leagues and cups... not just a first 11, especially when you have aging players and injury prone players.... even then at least last season we had cover on the wings, and options off the bench....Better than rio and chiesa ...Last edited by Kev0909; 30 October 2025, 09:45 AM.

Isn't there a rule of how many English players you have to have in the academy?? Its a double edged sword. These players need games to prove their up to it. but then they don't get it cause rightly so football is a results based business.Originally posted by jimmyliver View PostI think the problem is that wasn’t even squad players, I understand the pathway, but I don’t understand using kids that don’t have the required potential to move into the first team squad , a few of these kids haven’t even been pulling up trees In the academy . Arsenal have continued to pour money into their squad over the last 5/6 years.. they have pumped in 100s and 100s and 100s of millions and still yet to win anything major.. It's about end results.. Arsenal now have to win consistently over the next few years. To warrant that amount of input.Originally posted by Kev0909 View PostArsenal seem fine...... and have some decent youth........

As for wages.. lets see what happens when the Arsenal players want increases in their wages once their contracts are coming to an end.. the more successful they are the more they'll want.
In the end its all about who wins trophies. So far Arsenal haven't done it.. so its just pie in the sky..Cleaning up the Scots since the 13th century
