And before anyone mentions him getting our Player of the Year award in the 10-11 season, he got the award because he like Gomez was decent at times (but not great) in a season where we were piss poor e.g. we finished 6th, went out of both the FA cup and League cup in the 3rd round, and we went out of the EL in the last 16.
He's been under Rodgers,Hodgson,Dalglish,Klopp and Slot and been involved in every trophy we've won in that spell. He must have done something right.
Not many premier League teams if any have a CB as good who's willing to be a back up player, every team that's successful needs players like that.
The defining moments in our lives are never planned.

The word "involved" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there.

Gomez was involved in number 19

Gomez played every minute of 21 PL games in our 2019/20 title winning season.
            Won 19
            Drew 1
            Lost 1

28 PL appearances in total that season.
Played 2 thousand minutes, or 1,999 if you're nit picking. The 11th most minutes that year in our PL campaign.

            His 7 other games...
Subbed off at half time once, a loss away to Cituae,
And subbed in, on the 43rd minute away to Everton 0-0.
The other 5 were late minute sub appearances in the 83rd minute, or even later.
            5 wins.

He missed 1 game, and was an unused sub in 9 games. 8 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss.

He definitely went in to lagging mode after that error/assist the other night.

            • There is a well know saying that goes "there are lies, damned lies, and statistics". I've recently mentioned that saying to a journalist who reports on our club. He tried to say that things aren't all bad using some kind of stat, something along the lines of us having had a certain percentage of our passess being classified as 'progressive'.

Another phrase "clutching at straws" comes to mind.

              • There's also a saying, muddying the waters.

Gomez started more than half the games & played more than half the minutes in our PL winning season under Klopp. He ranked 11th for PL minutes that year. That's a significant contribution in our title winning season.

                • Minutes played ≠ Level of contribution

If those two things were equal, I'm sure there are many players such as Djimi Traore who happened to have played a fair few minutes for a team that won at least one of the big two prizes, who would be lauded as being much more integral to some of our greatest triumphs than they actually were.

                  • Interesting,
If an activity, situation, etc. involves something, that thing is a part of the activity, etc.:

I'd suggest measuring a players involvement is best done via starts & minutes played.

Think he signed in Rodgers' last summer 2015.

                      • That’s true - it was summer 2015 just a few months before Jurgen walked in. Bobby also signed that summer.
