I know.. it sounds bizarre... To be fair English isn't his first language. Jurgen also said things that when translated into English sounded off. This is the issue for all foreign managers. They have to field questions in real time and they are translating their thoughts from one language to another.
That's the hope anyway..

They weren’t save saves though were they let’s be honest 4 or 5 were tame efforts from outside the area, one was Ektike which then ended with Wirtz scoring, one was Wirtz effort like the one v Bradford I said a Prem keeper would save comfortably and he did even who it was set further away from him than the Bradford goalOriginally posted by JockStrap View Post8.
Another 2 cleared off the line and a missed penalty.
The one proper save was from Ekitike edge of the box
Clearance of the line was standard when you work it so slowly and crowd the box with your own players to go with the oppositions they’ll be loads more of them unless Slit changes back to allowing the players to play as they do best
We don’t even use switches and diagonals to release players in acres the other side when our overplaying has condensed most players one side of the pitch"If Everton were playing at the bottom of my garden, i'd close the curtains”

The squad is a little imbalanced and lacks depth in a few spots, but in general terms I wouldn't overly stress about the continual development of it provided we don't neglect key positions going forward.Originally posted by redgold View PostI'm sure I'm not the first to feel this, but today's squad feels like Souness's squad to me. Old players coming to the end of their careers. Good players needlessly sold and new players either not of the standard or not working.
It's a bit disconcerting to say the least.
Isak, Kerkez, Frimpong, Ekitike, Wirtz are all quality players and the "newer" midfield Klopp players (Grav, Macca, Szobo) are excellent too, though Mac Allister has been way off it this season.
Mama looks a good keeper (won't look as good as Ali because who the Hell does?) as well, so we're chipping away at having a squad with a pretty good age profile - Kerkez eventually replacing Robbo, Frimpong eventually replacing Trent (unless Slot insists he's a RWF) and so on.
The wider attacking roles (Salah is time-limited) being addressed properly would open up our ability to get a higher goal return to compliment our somewhat less porous defence and obviously the big succession challenge will be the centre-back area - but I don't think we're in a spot where we will go from Souness-esque years to Evans-esque years here - just need a couple of intelligent buys which I think we're capable of.Your hobbies are rollerblading and you're also a bit of a rat-hound? Slot on de Zerbi: “I regard him as one of the best in the world. It should not always be judged on the trophies you win but your style of play. Marseille is a big club at the moment and its history, I am not the one hiring coaches but if I was, De Zerbi would be high on the list if I worked at a big club.”

Phew because if you listen to 19x De Zerbi is coming back to Liverpool when the games finished, and Slot is staying in france.Originally posted by JockStrap View PostSlot on de Zerbi: “I regard him as one of the best in the world. De Zerbi is class and has several pro over SlotOriginally posted by Kev0909 View PostPhew because if you listen to 19x De Zerbi is coming back to Liverpool when the games finished, and Slot is staying in france.
1. Has consistently got players to play at a higher level than before
2. At Brighton set up 433 and transitioned from there to numerous different formations in game as we did under Jurgen and Slot last season.
3. Has a really strong mix of a passing game and playing direct when it’s on, uses the switches a lot when play has been condensed in an area
4. Really strong track record in developing younger players
Will probably be more demanding about being backed which is likely the main reason Slot for the job ahead of him"If Everton were playing at the bottom of my garden, i'd close the curtains”

De Zerbi has a couple of major downsides too. Like a 42% win rate across his entire career, compared to Slot's 62% across his career.
Slot also has a couple of league titles to his name in top European leagues, compared to 0 for De Zerbi.
But don't let that get in the way of a good Slot bashing.
