I don’t watch Liverpool through rose tinted glasses, I call it as I see it, which is .. or should be, the purpose of posting on a Forum.

Wirtz missed an absolute sitter before scoring then fluffed an excellent chance with a poor touch after good work from Robertson.
Those things happened… why does it annoy you so much that it was pointed out?? I don’t say he never does anything right just as you shouldn’t say he never does anything wrong
Yes but we don't have specific threads for those players slagging them off every week, gakpo gets a free pass because he's scored some goals but apart from that he's fucking terrible and we need a new lW chiesa is a waste of space but some people think he's the messiah

I don't really care what thread it is.

fact is wirtz is the least of our problems, we need a attacking rebuild outwide, never mind CB'S and a midfielder too, must be the biggest downfall of the squad depth/options season after winning it on record.

they've really messed it up behind the scenes and our glorious transfer staff, and no not because of wirtz, slot obviously will be the fall guy if we pick up a few more injury's and he can't get a settled team working together well, but how much is he to blame about the team and the summer, i'm not so sure.

the fact wirtz & hugo had to come on and secure the game says it all, both made a difference he missed a sitter and what? he scored&assisted changed the game in 30 gakpo and co didn't look like scoring against a side that has lost 4 in a row in league one , thankfully we scored some bangers from Szob/Frimpong, they've conceded 3 goals in 4 of the last 5, and 2 in the other..... for christ sake, if people don't think we need a starter for LW and a better squad option than chiesa who will actually play and push the first team we're doomed, how we've fallen from having so many quality options up top.

Szobo’s ball that Wirtz fluffed was absolute class

Szobo’s ball and the weight of it was the very essence of why there should be stats for the pass before the assist as it absolutely made that goal, the weight and trajectory of it put Wirtz in a position he had to just out it across for Ekitike the pass dictated that

Used to see that all the time with Alonso

People underrate the pass before the assist that really makes the goal all the time
You're not even rating the assist or the goal, nevermind the pass before the assist.

You're not watching close enough, Wirtz's movement for both goals was fantastic.

For the first, he's already spun off before Ekitike has made his pass giving the space he needed.

And whilst Szobo's pass was excellent, watch Wirtz's movement. He drops his shoulder, feints to come short but spins off his defender creating the seperation need to get to the ball first. Without the movement, there's not a hope in hell he's getting to the ball.

I'd still play him as the 10. Slot just needs to reshape the two behind him (Szobo and Grav).

      • Ekitike and Wirtz are going to be some partnership. They are already pretty good after 5 minutes together.

If we can get Mo or Frimpong joining in the goals then it's all systems go for the second half of the season.

        • Ekitike is a marvellous player, came in and hit the ground running.

Is it a joke though? who knows

rest of the signings was very well known, it's been a while since we've signed a rather unknown player and worked out well

I stick to what I said last season because we signed f all, would be easy as a scout for LFC

I see the movement it’s pretty bog standard having watched peak Mo Mane and Bobby for years, nothing to write home about

We should have players or at least a player preferably 2 constantly on the line looking to make the run in behind

You’ve surely seen enough of it done by the very best there ever were in their peak to know when the weight and direction of the ball has dictated the run and where the receiving player ends up rather than just connect it

Our wide forwards needed reinforcing in the summer we sold Diaz & Nunez and didn’t replace either We don’t need to sign 2 No9’s

Gakpo will always be second tier at best Mo has lost a yard of pace

Gakpo & Rio left neither of should be first choice

Mo Frimpong and Chiesa right none of them should be first choice

Both left and right forward positions fall a long way below what we need to be serial winners again and what you need if you intend, however foolhardily to change to a 4231

                      • We didn’t need him, we didn’t need 2 number 9’s we certainly didn’t need to change formations from the one that restored the clubs fortunes and built a new legacy

We could have kept Diaz, signed Ekitije Semenyo Kerkez Guehi and a No6 be playing 433 and be top of the league right now

Fucks sake older crowd remember the mistakes we made with Souness and Evans changing systems a d styles and where that led us

433 pressing and counter pressing restored our status and fortunes and remains a top formation and style of play and we’ve played it highly successfully for 10 years including last season there was no need at all to change

Diaz wanted out. Guehi wasn't for sale and we did sign two of the other 3.

Wirtz is one of the best young footballers in the world. No doubt there would be cries of WTF were we doing if he'd gone to City.

Try supporting the team you have, not the team you can assemble in footie manager.

Cherki is not doing too bad, Diaz might have wanted to go but not replacing him is a joke, and Guehi is not the only CB out there, if we was serious we'd try with a bid now i'd imagine, not sure what 30m is when we spent 135m on a broken player.

The need at CB is obvious and I'm sure that will get fixed. The idea was to give Rio the chance to replace Diaz. That hasn't quite worked but nothing wrong with trying, considering we bought so many other players.

It's all ifs and buts. Isak is a proven PL player. If he goes to Utd and starts banging in goals and Ekitike flops then you're asking why we didn't buy a proven striker. All of this is easy with hindsight. Nobody can see the future. Who could forsee Mo's form falling off a cliff?

We have a good squad, a good manager and I'm sure we have a plan to fix the areas that need attention. There's so much to be positive about but you'd never think it reading this place.
