  • Doubt we'll see Mo start against Bournemouth seeing as he played the full 90 minutes. Notable that both Ekitike and Wirtz were given a bit of rest.

Yeah surprise mo was straight back into the team, guessing we'll see gakpo start again

Hopefully that goal gives him some confidence, and he kicks on from it...

      • Arne tight lipped in the presser about whether Mo will start tomorrow or not. I still suspect he won't start but we'll see him come on at some point.

        • He's not doing himself any favours if he wants to continue to start for LFC. Looks tired and leggy.

Nowhere close to what he was.

            • hes gone in the summer. It's a matter of whether we get a fee for him or mutually agree to tear up his contract..

Agree. Both parties know it too. No way he's staying on those wages and phoning in performances.
They can't afford to have a player on that money who's simply not a first team starter anymore.

Yep, I think it's more mentally hes gone as well. hes been world class for us. but time moves on. don't know who we are gonna replace him with though.

                    Michael Olise hopefully.

                    • The only good thing is its gone from 'it will be impossible to replace salah' to 'a decent wide attacker will be an improvement'

It’s a massive drop off. But So too Virgil and Macca. Understandable that his pace has dropped off but his ability in front of goal looks to have been sucked out of him..? Zero confidence - looks to pass it when well placed and only really has a go if there is no other option and zero expectation.

I cannot fathom what it is …

What are they doing in training?

Hopefully, but we have seen it's never easy getting targets we want. Take Guehi.. if he had waited he would have likely come to us in the summer.. But Palace wanted money and the kicker for Guehi was the 300 grand. we were never gonna pay 20 million+ 300 thousand a week. so when it comes to Olise Bayern will want a huge fee then theres wages.. I hope we can do a deal and sell Wirzt to them.. Hes not gonna make it in this league. hes too passive. Hes only 22. but we don't have years to wait for him to finally get up to speed.

                          • I think Mi would be fairing better player furthestvfirward as a wide forward as part of a front three

This is the debate I always had with CCTV when he kept wanting 4231 when we had peak Mane & Mo

                            Bobby was a false 9 not a 9

Mo and Mane were both forwards who played on the shoulder and made runs in behind to be found with direct passing

None of the 3 would perform anywhere near their levels out of their positions and in a 4231 their positions are different

Football's so funny like that, absolutely always changing.

Just six years ago under Jürgen we'd won 64 points from the first available 66 which is mental, while Brendan's Leicester side got close to the Champions League spots, Sheffield United looked pretty good after their promotion and Arsenal were a mid-table mess having only recently appointed Arteta in the December.

Nobody wants to "drive Salah to the airport themselves" etc but there is something perversely encouraging that we can picture a future where we aren't reliant upon him. Mac Allister (really hope it's temporary) is a shadow of himself, Virg is making errors to a degree that (whilst not yet reminding me of John Terry's later years) shows he's very human and the Sod's Law of goalkeeping longevity dictates that Alisson will start to miss some saves from not getting down quick enough or will misjudge the flight of corners etc as that sort of thing always seems to come for keepers (Neuer, Casillas, etc) which will open a door for Mamardashvili.

Change is definitely bubbling. Some of it is going to be rough, though there are definitely players here that can offer us plenty going forward.
