      • Ultimately Slot’s fantasy manager 4231 poor mans 2019 City experiment with Wirtz as a designated playmaker has failed disastrously and set the club back years if he doesn’t revert to what these players are best at

Try Wirtz as the false 9 in a 433

        • I see the wanna be fantasy football manager is back. And believe me, whatever is in his head is pure fantasy. That's the nice way to say it.

          • Anyway back to Wirtz. It will be interesting to see how his career evolves. Will the quote in my signature end up being correct, or will he be a huge success as most people in the know seem to think.

I'd happily see us trial that for a few games in a row if we have a low-stakes spell in the season (let's say we get 7 points clear of 5th spot) but overall Wirtz does his best work having worked the left half-space and especially last season.

So if we were to go 4-3-3 with him in the side I'd always lean towards deploying him as follows -

              ....................Player

              Player....Player.....Player....Player

              ....................Player

              ........Player............Wirtz

              ...Player........Player.........Player

Good line up. It's always funny to see so many people with the same name. It's mad how many people who work at footy grounds are called Ste Ward. Very common name.

                  • Why was Wirtz's goal given onside through VAR?

It is a little known fact but there has been a 5cm tolerance in VAR offside technology since the start of 2021-22. It was added because of inaccuracies in the technology. Think of it as giving the benefit of the doubt to the attacker.

So goals that are very marginally offside can be given onside through VAR – regardless of the on-field decision.
So no, not "lucky". Simply that Carra didn't know the rules.

I was puzzled by Carragher saying what he said. It showed the lines being drawn, he was onside no arguments. Close yes, but onside.

                      • I can’t stand Cara but it’s difficult to see it and not notice he was ahead. And he was.

Just not enough. I never knew this was even a rule. Would like an explanation still on Diaz’s goal at Spurs - which was miles onside

                        • One thing is for certain, I’d be pissed were that allowed to stand against us.

                          • I definitely thought it was offside at the time but the lines showed him just on.
The Diaz thing was a cock up in communication wasn't it rather than it being the wrong offside decision?

                              It goes on to say:

In Wirtz's case, the VAR has chosen one frame, and TV broadcasters the next frame. Wirtz is more clearly offside in the second one.
So Carra and others can be looking at a slightly different picture than the VAR officials.

And apparently Germany, Italy and Spain removed that 5cm tolerance level so he might well have been given offside in a European game.

                              Not confusing at all

                              • The lines were wrong.. he was ahead as you can see on the image. but apparently not more than 5cm. New rule that I and apparently Wirtz himself was not aware of.

                                tell me he isn't ahead
